Leaking water from your refrigerator or no water/ice from dispenser? This water inlet valve controls flow to ice maker and dispenser. DIY repair in 30 min.
I replaced the solenoid valve and trimmed a small amount of the tubing that serves the ice maker and water dispenser. The only problem was there is almost NO slack in that tubing. If you trim more than a half inch off, you won't have enough tubing to connect it on both ends. Read more

Removed the old line and replaced with the new. This is the sixth time I've replaced the line. Yes you read that right, the sixth time. Lines fail about every 6-8 months so I can change one out now in about 10-15 minutes. Bought the refrigerator in Feb '09 and the line first failed in March 2012. After my layman's diagnosis (hope) of a bad micro switch to the ice dispenser (would not activate and dispense ice through the chute) I purchased the both the ice and water dispenser micro switches (kill two birds with one stone). Removed 2 screws from mullion strip heater and slid it up off the tabs at top and bottom. Unhooked the plug and removed it. Verified proper mullion heater and then plugged wiring connection back together, positioned slide clips back in line and slid mullion down onto the clips. Tucked the wiring back into opening positioned cover back in place and reiinstalled the 2 screws. Ordered new tube part AJR56656503 for Lg LFX25978ST/01 watched a lot of videos but none showed how to remove the door tube end from its connection so I just cut and spliced the new tube to the old under the cover for the door hinge area after feeding it from the back of frig to that area. Replaced defrost sensor in freezer compartment, if you are handy this is a do it yourself job. The cover in the freezer section just pops out not tools needed. You will need a few small zip ties and some cutters to remove the old zip ties. Take a picture were the old sensor was before removing and reinstall in the same place. Fix no water or ice, leaking valve, or slow water flow from your dispenser. This refrigerator water inlet valve is a straightforward DIY repair.
First I replaced the filter thinking it was the problem, but that was not the case. Next was replace water supply valve at the back of the refrigerator. It was very easy. The only thing that was in question was how to get the refrigerator side line off of the existing valve. The ice chute flap wasnt closing. 1. I turned off power 2, Pulled off facia around controls on freezer door,, you have to pull out the bottom part of the chute first , its clipped in 3.
