Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Fifteen year old whirlpool washing machine agitator was noisily malfunctioning   Beth K. • Ventura , CA • September 26, 2014

I figured it had to do with the gear mechanism. Internet search with Whirlpool discovered the parts were not available. AppliancePartsPros had parts and the complete agitator. I watched the video (excellent instructor). With a screwdriver, socket wrench and a little grease, I accomplished the replacement in about 10 minutes. Washing machine works like new. Total cost about $80. Ordered Sunday, repaired on Tuesday. Read more

I installed all the necessary parts that I received from you and it works great, now. I received the parts in good time without overnighting them. I had the whole washing machine apart and went through it all before ordering parts. Tear down and assembly was easy. I just took my time. The washer is 17 years old and was well built. It was worth it compared to what is on the market today, and cheaper. Read more

Outer Tub
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: 63125

This genuine OEM part is an outer tub for washers. The outer tub is the main tub where clothes are set to wash. If the tub is no longer spinning properly or is making a loud noise as it rubs against the washer, it will need to be replaced. Thankfully, replacing this part is a relatively simple process. To replace the outer tub, start by making sure the washer is unplugged. After that, remove the front panel of the washer. Once removed, lift up the top panel so that it is no longer covering the outer tub. Next, locate the mounting bolts that secure the tub and unthread them using a socket wrench. Once removed, lift the tub out from the washer. Replace with the new tub and secure the mounting bolts. Reinstall the front panel and plug the washer back in. This replacement part is sold individually and is compatible with Whirlpools, Maytag, Kitchenaid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Sears/Kenmore brand washers.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Washer was "dead" with a partially washed load and would not do anything   Jimmy M. • Hopewell , VA • September 19, 2014

Researched this kenmore washer on-line and found the problem to be the lid switch. Saw a diagram on how to jump this switch by connecting a wire to both outside wires on the harness and voila! It worked! This is not a fix but it allowed me to finish the load of unwashed clothes and told me which part was bad (do not run washer jumped like this.......fire hazard!) Ordered the lid switch and it was an easy repair. A $14.00 switch was a lot cheaper than a $450.00 washer. Thanks appliance parts... Read more
