First I took off the spring loaded wire ring holding down the seal to the door with needle nose pliers. Pulled back the seal. Removed the 3 screws holding the part on the front of the washing machine. Slid the piece out. Took the protector guard off the off piece and unplug the wires. Put the wires into new part. Bought the new sensor. Tipped the washing machine on its back which made the sensor easy to access. Remove two screws unplug the sensor replaced it screwed it back in and I was done. 15 minute repair with a $50 part. To have the repair person even come to the house would have been $80 plus parts and labor evidentially a second visit. The repair was simple and quick and I would read it as a begin her handyman job. At first I thought it was the bearing, but when I got it apart I found the main shaft had corroded from possibly the soap powder and bleach combo build up on the part. After I cleaned it all up I found one of the three mounting braces was cracked and causing the unit to shake during the spin cycle.
