Fix uneven cooling or defrost issues with a new temperature sensor. Most DIYers complete this repair in under an hour with basic tools and our video.
I unplugged the fridge and took all the food and shelving out of the freezer and then proceeded to take off the bottom sliding drawer rack on both sides off (4 Phillips head screws). Then took off the light bulb cover and then the light bulb. Then the back wall that covers the coils and tubes that the refrigerant runs through ( 2 screws with hex head). After sliding out the back wall I could see that the entire coil area was frosted and iced up. I took a blow dryer and melted all of it over... Read more
Replaces dim, flickering, or burnt-out bulbs in refrigerators, ovens, and microwaves. Restores interior lighting for visibility. Verify fit with model.
I have a Jennair jjw9630cas double wall oven, and after a few years I noticed that the light would not go out, first in the bottom oven, and then in the top oven. After doing some research I discovered this was not uncommon, and the fix usually involved replacing the hinges and/or the hinge receptacles. It didn't look like a difficult fix so I ordered four new hinges and four new receptacles, which arrived quickly. I found a video on YouTube that showed how to replace the hinges and it... Read more

Rubber grommet that seals and cushions where the evaporator fan motor shaft mounts. Replace if cracked, worn, or missing to eliminate noise and vibration.
It was after 11:00 at night a few nights ago, I couldn't sleep listening to the whining of the fan in the freezer, it was running and making noise sounding like waaoooww, waaaoww. It also sounded like grumbling of a garbage disposal. The refrigerator fan motor was so noisy it was keeping me up all night going on and off running really loud and about to fail. So I was desperate, and called AppliancePartsPros when I couldn't get to sleep near midnight because the fan was so noisy and Bud in... Read more
If your refrigerator compartment isn't cooling while the freezer stays cold, the evaporator fan motor likely failed. DIY-friendly repair with video guide.
I changed the motherboard - computer and also changed the motor in the freezer, because it was doing a howling sound every time it turned on. The repair technician asked for $500 for a repair and that is on top of the $230 I paid him two days before. I looked up the parts and decided to try myself and it paid off. Great instructional videos. Thanks Read more
Interior light not working when door opens? This light switch controls refrigerator illumination. DIY-friendly install takes 30-45 minutes with video.
I ordered a new switch from APP and fixed my fridge. However, the video posted for this repair on this site is not applicable to newer refrigerator models. I have a 2015 GE GTE18IHCRSS and had to drop the control housing (#432 in the diagram) to attach the wire/plug assembly to the switch. Only had to remove the front screw with a 1/4" nut driver and that provided enough of a gap for me to plug in the switch. So the correct method to replace the light switch in a newer model refrigerator is as... Read more
Ice maker not filling or water dispenser not working? This refrigerator water inlet valve controls water flow to both. DIY install in 10 minutes.
I replaced the water inlet valve. The toughest part was closing off the feed line while I waited for the valve to be delivered. The needle valve used to install the feed line wouldn't close completely. I ended up fabricating a plug from some parts from the hardware store. The mounting bracket on the new valve was completely different from the original, but it still mounted easily enough. The 1/4" plastic hose fitting was a different type from the original, but the hose fitted into it easily... Read more
Refrigerator not cooling but lights work? This inverter control board regulates compressor speed. Moderate DIY repair with proper diagnosis.
I have an 11 year old GE Monogram side by side built-in fridge that had been having cooling problems intermittently. The fridge would work for a day and then the compressor would not come on for 8 hours and temps would rise to the upper 20s in the freezer. Fans, lights, and everything else appeared to be functioning properly. It went like this for a few weeks and we put it off until the compressor decided not to come on at all for a full day. Being barely able to use a multi-meter, I watched a... Read more

Refrigerator running hot or making loud noises? A worn condenser fan blade prevents proper airflow across coils. DIY repair in 30 minutes or less.
Condenser fan stopped on my big 2003 Monogram 4 foot wide ZIS480D Refrigerator. It is top mounted. The fridge had to be rolled out. 20 screws removed and the top sheet metal to get at the condenser. That was the only way to get at it. Works like new now. Read more
Seals freezer drawer to prevent cold air loss and frost buildup. Replace if torn, cracked, or causing ice formation. Verify fit with your model number.
Ordered this Freezer Door Bottom From Appliance Parts Pros and they sent a GE Original gasket from their Fresno warehouse. To remove the old gasket just peel it away, it's only held in by a single channel, then clean the area. Prior to installing the new gasket, warm it up in the dryer and decompress the gasket (on a flat surface) and hold it in a decompressed state until it cools. This will help the gasket comply with the surface once installed. To install the new gasket just press it into... Read more
Rubber bumper that cushions and mounts the evaporator fan motor assembly. Replace if cracked, deteriorated, or missing to reduce vibration and noise.
Changed fan motor, rubber grommets, and dust cover. It sounded like the vibrating sound was being caused by the motor. But, come to find out I had a chipped blade on one of the fan blades. So make sure and check the fan blade first. Thanks Appliance Parts Pros everything for just as it should. Read more
