A lever spring is a part of a trimer or tiller that works with the lockout lever. The lockout lever needs to be depressed before the throttle can activate. The return spring is responsible for offering tension so the lockout lever works the way it should. As time goes on, the spring can start to break down or even fall apart. Visually inspecting the part will give information about whether a replacement is needed. The first step is removing the lever return spring by taking off the control handle assembly and then getting to the lever spring so it can be taken out. Once it has been removed from the lockout lever, the new lever spring can be installed. It will be slid over the mounting post on the mounting handle where the straight part of the spring faces down. Take the straight end of the spring between the retaining clip and outside wall on the handle. Install the lockout lever while sliding it over the mounting post. This metal lever spring is sold individually. It is a genuine OEM replacement part directly sourced from the manufacturer. It is designed for use with tillers, hedge trimmers, and string trimmers by Echo and Mantis.
