The shear pin’s purpose is to stop the engine when it is broken. If the machinery hits something hard, the shear pin will break. This prevents injuries that could be fatal. If something large or small becomes clogged or jammed in the auger, the shear pin is meant to snap in half, rendering the auger useless. This happens once the auger reaches a certain point in pressure load, which also prevents damage to the rest of your equipment. The auger part of your machinery cannot turn without a shear pin.
Since the purpose of the shear pin is to break on impact, it's a good idea to have several of these on hand for quick replacements. There’s nothing like having your equipment break down in the middle of a job. Repair is simple. Just remove the broken shear pin, line up the auger’s holes, and insert your new shear pin. Use the cotter pin to secure your shear pin.
This genuine OEM auger shear pin works in conjunction with small engine equipment with augers made by Craftsman, Cub Cadet, MTD, Troy-Built, Yard Machines, and Yard-Man. This part is sold individually. Consider also ordering an MTD Pin-Bow Tie Cotter or retaining clip.

A carriage bolt is a type of fastener. It features a smooth rounded head and a square domed top. It has threading, which leads to up to the square shoulder. The purpose of its square is to prevent the bolt from spinning. Once the carriage bolt is inserted through the hole, using a nut and washer can provide additional security.
Carriage bolts can corrode and loosen over time. Since it doesn't have a slotted head, a socket wrench is needed when replacing.
This bolt carriage replacement is compatible with wood chippers, tillers, string trimmers, lawnmowers, and edgers. It is a genuine MTD product that measures 5/16x.075. It has a smooth rounded head and square shoulder underneath it. This carriage bolt is sold individually.

Scraper blade on my craftsman snow blower was worn to the point the bolts were gone and the blade was catching the augers Martin D. • Monroe , MI • February 11, 2022
Removed old scraper blade. Filed away bent edges where casing was worn. Installed new scraper blade and bolts. added a backing plate to body where erosion occurred. East repair. Best part was that big snowstorm was forecast for Wednesday night. 12-18 inches expected. Parts arrived on Wednesday morning, right at time predicted. I was up and running before the snow hit (actually only got 6 inches. So much for the Storm of the Century)

The snowblower auger cable initiates operation of the snowblower’s auger similar to the cable on the handle of a push mower. To start the snowblower, the control handle must be squeezed. This engages the snowblower auger cable to allow the auger to begin turning. When the snowblower auger cable is broken, the snowblower cannot work because the auger will not turn.
The length of this snowblower auger cable is 47.48 inches. It is made from high-quality rubber insulation of a metal wire. A pair of pliers and a wrench are needed to complete the repair. If the snowblower still does not work after replacing the snowblower auger cable, check the shear pin as these are prone to breaking and will also prevent the auger from turning.
This genuine OEM snowblower auger cable is compatible with snowblowers manufactured by Craftsman, Cub Cadet, Husky, MTD, Troy-Bilt, Yard Machines, and Yard-Man. This part is sold individually. You will need to order any hardware, housing, and the trigger separately if these items also need repair or replacement.

This part is a speed select cable. This is a genuine OEM part and has been sourced directly from the manufacturer. This part is intended to replace a deteriorated, damaged, or detached speed select cable on certain snowblower models. The speed select cable works by fastening the ground drive system to the speed control level. This enables the equipment operator to properly control speed and traction while using a snowblower. Over time, speed select cables can experience wear and tear which can cause them to break or become detached, requiring replacement. Without a functioning speed select cable, the snow blower will not be able to be properly controlled. For accurate information on how and where to install this replacement speed select cable, specific manufacturer diagrams should be referenced. Proper safety measures should always be followed when working on any type of equipment. As an authentic replacement part, this speed select cable can be used on multiple different models of Craftsman, MTD, Yard-Man, and Huskee snow blowers. Please note that this speed select cable is a genuine part made of high-quality materials and is sold individually.

The friction wheel for a snowblower is sometimes also known as a friction disc or a friction ring. The friction wheel is what helps to move the snowblower forward. When the disc is in contact with the spinning drive wheel, the disc will rotate and turn the axle to propel the snowblower. Over time, the friction wheel can start to wear down or even break. If this happens, it will mean that the snowblower will move slowly, or that it might have erratic movements. Owners who find that they are having similar problems with their machine will want to check the friction wheel to see if it is damaged or broken. They will need to replace the disc before they can use the machine efficiently and safely. The genuine OEM replacement friction wheel is for use with snowblowers, and it is sold individually. Compatible brands include Cub Cadet, Craftsman, Troy-Bilt, Yard-Man, Montgomery Wards, Bolens, Huskee, MTD, Yard Machines, and Ryobi.

The shave plate, also called the scraper bar, is an important but often overlooked part of a snowblower. This thin metal strip sits at the bottom of the auger housing against the ground and gathers the snow the auger will expel through the chute. Made of hard plastic, the shave plate is the only part of the snowblower that actually touches the snow-covered ground without rolling. As durable as the shave plate is manufactured to be, it constantly comes into contact with unseen objects that pound, slice, and pit it. Eventually, the shave blade has to be replaced. To replace the blade, simply invert the blower, unscrew the old blade, attach the new blade, and put the blower right side up again. As long as the user is replacing the shave plate and has the machine upside down, this is an ideal time to check for damage to the wheels, the auger blades, driveshaft, and the condition of the shear pin. If this replacement is taking place in preparation for the coming winter, it might be a good time to replace the oil and oil filter as well. Be sure to use genuine OEM replacement parts that perfectly match the factory originals. This blade is compatible with snowblowers made by Yard-Man, Bolens, Yard Machines, Troy-Bilt, Craftsman, Ryobi, Cub Cadet, Huskee, Montgomery Wards, and Ryobi.

This is a shear bolt, also known as a shear pin, which is used in many models of snowblowers. The shear bolt connects the auger shaft to the auger on the tool. This connection allows the augers to rotate, collecting snow and sending it to the impeller fan. Most snowblowers have at least one shear pin on each side of the auger gearcase. Large objects that get stuck between the housing and augers can damage the pins, necessitating replacement. If there is damage to the shear bolt or if it has broken, the snowblower may not work as expected. To replace the bolt, the snowblower should be turned off. Wear work gloves and remove the spark plug wire before disassembling the snowblower to reach the shear bolt. It can be removed and replaced with a new part. This is a genuine OEM replacement part that is sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is sold as an individual part. The shear bolt is designed for use with snowblowers created by Yard-Man, Yard Machines, MTD, Montgomery Wards, and Huskee.
