Joseph for Model Number DV5451AEW/XAA-01 I have replaced the heating element assembly twice in the past month. The first one ran 3 weeks and ceased to heat, I thought it was defective so I ordered another one. This worked for 3 days. Dryer runs but there is no heat. I am not sure where to go from here. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you
Answer Joseph, with the power cord disconnected from the outlet, you may want to test the heater relay on the main control DC92-00322E. There will be a two-wire connector with a black wire and a blue wire that will need to be disconnected from the heater relay. Once it is removed, this relay will need to be tested for continuity from one terminal to the other. If there is continuity, then the main control will need to be replaced due to a failed relay. From there, you will want to test the thermal cut-off DC96-00887C and the hi-limit thermostat DC47-00018A for continuity. The heating element DC97-14486A will also need to be tested for 10 ohms of resistance. If any component fails to test good, it will need to be replaced. Read More...
