We thought our oven stopped heating because the heating element went bad but after having a repair person out, we discovered it was the control board. He said he would charge for parts and labor to fix it, but also said it was pretty straightforward and we should consider doing it ourselves. After trying to find a new range we liked and not having any luck, we ordered the parts, watched a 6 minute tutorial online (for a different model range, but same brand so it was slightly different) and gave it a go. The hardest part was pulling out the range. Disconnecting the old panel and connecting the new one went smoothly after watching an example online and having a general clue of how things should go. It took us about 30 minutes start to finish, including sliding the range back into place after cleaning the sides and vacuuming the dust balls that were hiding underneath. While I am decently handy when it comes to figuring things out, I am not experienced at repairing appliances or other similar tasks and found this to be very straightforward. In the end, even with having to pay the technician to diagnose the problem, we saved $ doing it ourselves.
