How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP4508273 / 131763302 Door Strike

I ordered the door latch part and was absolutely amazed that I received it the very NEXT day with standard shipping! My husband kept saying he would replace the latch "tomorrow" but after a couple of days and laundry piling up (already one trip to laundromat) I began to wonder which "tomorrow" he ment. SO, one night I decided to "You Tube" how to replace the latch! Conveniently enough, there was an AppliancePartsPros man on there and I saw how to do it. I thought, "Gosh, I could do this. Its simple enough". So, I got the part, a screw driver and had at it. The most difficult part was getting the broken piece out of the switch box. Everything else went smoothly just according to the video!. After about 15 minutes of trying to get the broken piece out, I simply followed the video's direction and "BOOM" the washer was fixed. I decided to test it and loaded it up with laundry. Hit the button and it WORKED! I gave myself an "atta girl"! Thank you AppliancePartsPros....awesome order and awesome video! 

I ordered the door striker and door lock switch because the broken piece was in the switch. Easy repair thanks to the videos. What we didn't realize is that the door lock switch also controls the spin cycles. We have been complaining about the spin cycles taking longer. A wash cycle that should last 51 minutes would take 90 minutes. That seems to be fixed now also. 

I ordered the parts from Appliance Pros and watched the video on how to replace them. The parts arrived the next day. It was so easy. The most difficult part was finding the video that matched my washer model so I could get the door seal loose. Once I found that it was a 10 minute job! Thank you!! 

Ordered new door latch and door hinge. Arrived within 1 day, amazing. Watched the video and thought it would be an easy fix. Problems encountered - Needed to use an impact driver on the hinge screws to get them to come out. Hinge screws were frozen. The driver made easy work of it after liberal application of WD-40,. Add that to your video. Once the door was removed there was an issue with the rusted Phillips head by the door handle. Back to the impact driver and WD-40. With that removed I discovered the door hinge is held in place by two plastic tabs on the door that were broke off. That's the reason door was sagging, not the hinge itself. Placed several washers in the hinge pocket to take up the slack and bolted it all back up. Leveled the machine and still have an issue with the door latch lining up with the latch receptacle. Problem is the tabs on the door frame itself. Bad design and designed to fail. Typical. Thanks for the exceptionally timely delivery! 

I googled what would cause the issue and came up with the door not locking as the problem. I bought the Door lock/switch assembly and the Door Strike just in case I needed it. It was super easy to fix. A youtube video showed me how step by step. My washer is up and running!! I ordered the parts I think on a Saturday, they shipped the following Monday and I received them Tuesday. Fedex ground got them to me extremely fast!! 

I took off the back panel and found that one of the shock absorbers was broken. I ordered replacement shock absorbers and replaced them, with the help of the very useful videos on this web site. While I was back there, I replaced the (18-year-old, 1,500+ loads) belt. (I replaced the door strike too, since it was broken but not affecting this problem.) Definitely use a 1/2-inch socket from your socket set for the plastic pins, and maybe get a helper for the belt replacement. Watch the videos on this site! It then spun but did not drain. I watched another helpful video here on checking and replacing the drain pump. I disconnected the drain pump and found a house key stuck in the pump. I removed the key and reconnected everything, and now my 18-year-old washer runs great again! Thanks, AppliancePartsPros! 

Ordered and replaces the striker. Added spacing washers to the hinge pins to realign the door to the correct level. 

I was an easy repair. I only needed a screw driver to remove all screws from the door, hinge and striker. The hardest part was pulling the machine out of the space I had designed to hold it. 

The door to this machine is sort of weird and you have to lift and close it so the striker fits correctly and the door closes. Well on this day I closed the door and it wouldn't stay closed. I discovered that part of the striker had broken off in the door lock assembly, thus preventing it from closing. Can't run the machine if the door won't close. After looking on YouTube I found how to remove the door lock assembly and was able to open it up to remove the plastic piece from the striker. Once I did that I put it back together and put the door lock assembly back into the machine. I ordered the striker and hoped I had a laundromat nearby. The door striker I ordered came so fast I didn't even have to go to the laundromat! Then all it took was screwing the striker in place and I was set to start washing clothes again. I have used this site several times over the years and am so happy I found it! The parts are wonderful, great pricing and the vids make everything so easy! I have no idea how much money I saved doing this repair myself but I am sure it would have been fairly expensive to call a repairman. Especially so near Christmas. Thanks so much AppliancePartsPros!
