How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3968432 / WH01X10302 Drive Belt

Replace motor /inverter 

Put new belt, and thanks for saying on sight that belt tool is needed,because without it I couldn't put belt on 

Replaced the belt. It was a challenge though. Stretch the belt quite a bit prior to installation. Soak in hot water then step on it and pull up your arms. I would also highly recommend the belt installation tool. This helps keep the belt on the motor shaft while rotating the belt on the large pully. Plus zip tie the belt onto the large pulley to help keep it in place during the install. 

I ordered the replacement parts and installed them after reviewing your videos 

Removed the front panel. Pulled the belt off the pulley and motor shaft. Put the new belt on the motor shaft, and spun the pulley around, to spin the belt on. Easy enough. 

I double checked to make sure it wasn't an electrical problem,. switched to spin cycle only, no clothes (no load) in tub and it all worked fine, so knew it was a mechanical issue. The website pointed out the common issues, main one was belt slipping which I now suspected also. I ordered the new belt plus the installer and it all went seamless. Installed and now its working just fine again. 

Purchased a pump part # AP5632594 (WH23X10043) The hardest part was unscrewing the screws holding the pump in place.. Once it came off the replacement was easy. Took me 45 minutes to take off and put the new one on. It really didn't take this long but I kept looking at it and saying this can't be that easy, something has to be wrong. There was nothing wrong it was just my paranoia because I am not great at fixing things. But I'm getting real good at it. With the help of the videos on here and on youtube everything is starting to become easy. I estimate I saved at least $300 dollars buying the part and completing it myself. 

Opened up the front panel. Belt was off. I got the model number and entered it here and ordered the belt and installer. Watched the video. It took me about 10 minutes and saved about $150. 

Belt replacement with the installation tool and a zip tie was super easy. It took less than 5 minutes to install and put it back together. I did have to reset the motor to get it to finally work which I found out by googling. To reset: just unplug the washer, then plugged back in and open and close the lid 6 times within 12 seconds of power on to reset. 

I disassembled the entire tub and drive assembly. All the parts were badly corroded so I ordered and replaced the following parts: Hub Washer, Tub Bearing Washer, Tub Bearing, Drive Belt, Tub Bearing Split Ring, Seal Tub, Hub Nut. The belt is extremely hard to install. It was really a struggle as it's the same diameter as the Drive Pulley with no slack. Big pain. Use zip ties to hold the belt on the pulley as it wants to slip off when you try to get it on.
