How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP6993956 / WD19X25187 Single Speed Dishwasher Drain Pump Kit

We replaced with Dishwasher Drain Pump Kit. 

Very smooth repair, took me longer to pull the dishwasher out and push it back in than to replace the pump and filter assembly. The disassembled old pump, found a small plastic bit about the size of an M&M jammed under the old drain pump's impeller. The new filter assembly has smaller holes on the top, hopefully, won't happen again. The part box did not contain instructions, and indeed had a card stating to text a number with GE, but the instruction sheet it sent me was useless. The video instructions provided by AppliancePartsPros.com was very helpful. Will buy from here again, just based on the strength of that instruction video. 

I cleaned the drain area first and reassemble and tried again. Still did not drain. I took the drain motor off and checked with the meter. Did not work. Placed the order. Had it within 3 days. Works fine now. 

My dishwasher wasn't draining. I decided to buy a new circulation pump and the drain pump. AppliancePartsPros.com had both parts and delivered it the next day. Put the parts in and got it to work. At first, I had a repair company come and they wouldn't do anything unless the dishwasher was hooked up. All they had to do was plug it in and connect the water line. So they lost my business. After checking for clogs and blockages in the drain line. I hooked a power lead directly to the drain pump and found it would not come on. After disassembling the pump, I found I could get it to run if I used my finger to start it, but it wouldn't self-start. Probably a bad motor capacitor. I went to the GE website to find the replacement part number, as the original part had been superseded. Finding the replacement p/n probably took more time than replacing the pump. AppliancePartsPros.com had the required part, and delivery was as promised. Installation took maybe 15 minutes, followed by loading the much-missed dishwasher with a week's worth of dishes for the test drive. 

Ordered a new pump < which came in 2 days. 

Most importantly, I had to pick the correct part. At first I thought I needed to buy the circulation pump, but that was not the issue. The dishes would get cleaned but the water would sit in the bottom of the dishwasher. So, I decided it was the drain pump that needed changing out. Sure enough, that fixed it. It was an easy repair actually. 

Installed a new water discharge pump kit. 

Replaced bad pump with a new one.
