How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3754226 / WB24X10129 Switch(Fan)

In addition to all the awesome instructions from others below, a couple of pointers - 1. Use rubbing alcohol to wipe off the grease (I had no paint issues you might want to check in an inconspicuous corner first) 2. The connectors are stab type, so you need to use something skinny and rigid (I used one of those precision screw drivers) to push and hold in and wiggle the wire out of the old switch. 3. stab the wires into the new switch 

Turn off power off at main circuit remove nobs remove hex nuts remove the cover exposing the switches remove the wires (one at a time by inserting a small screwdriver in the wire slot of the old switch . MAKE SURE THE POWER IS OFF) , compare the number on the back of the old switch to the new switch when installing the wires 

I Replaced the switch. To access the switch, remove metal box by removing two screws (bottom right and left of the box). There are four wire connection points on the switch which are labeled as L, 1, 2, and 3. Prior to disconnecting the wires from the switch, write down what connection point each wire is connected to, so you can reconnect the wires in the same position on the new switch. There are only three wires and they are different colors. To disconnect the wires from the switch, gently insert a small thin screw driver in the connection slot and pull the wires out. I learned this from one of the stories posted by one of your previous customers. To reconnect the wires on the new switch, just push the wires in their respective slots.

The light switch knob was pretty simple but just inserting the control knob on to the switch stem.The fab switch I had to turn off the power, remove the housing from the hood and insert the wires into the switch, tighten the nut and put the housing back on. 

Purchased the above fan switch and everything works just fine

Ordered new fan and light switchs 

It was so easy I did it myself. 

The light switch was correct but not the fan switch. The fan switch shipped was 3 On positions with no Off and mounting key was 45 degrees off horizontal. The original switch was 3 On positions with an Off position and mounting key at horizontal. The part number on the bag, my order, and your website was the same. I called your Tech line and talked to a nice lady named Kathy. After some checking, her conclusion was it was the wrong part in the right bag. She promptly sent me another switch with instructions to let you know if the problem continued. The second new switch is correct. It has been installed and is working correctly. The original switch and the second new switch are marked 2311T. The wrong switch is 1702. Thank you for your quick service in correcting my problem.
