How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP4438254 / 4413ER1003A Rotor Assembly

-Bought Rotor replacement -Removed back panel of washer -Removed Rotor Assembly and slide on new assembly - In total job took about 20-30 minutes including moving washer to get to back panel 

After a little YouTube research, I was able to figure out that it was destroyed splines on the rotor assembly. I was able to quickly find the part and order it. The speedy shipping was beyond belief and I received the part a little more than 24 hours after I placed my order. The repair took less than 10 minutes and I was rewarded faith a fully operational washing machine. All this taken place during the Covid-19 outbreak made this task particularly urgent. Installed new stator assembly and rotor assembly. 

After going through your troubleshooting charts, and viewing a couple of your YouTube videos, this gave me enough info to be able to quickly find the problem with our washer - the center gear teeth were stripped on the electric motor rotor. I ordered a new rotor via AppliancePartsPros.com, and they had lower prices than several other sites, for parts from the original manufacturer. 

By replacing the bad parts. 

Replaced the rotor assembly as the splines had stripped out. Also replaced the drain pump as it was not operating. Pump took about thirty minutes to replace and the rotor took about five minutes. Appliance Parts Pros has the proper parts and they were delivered promptly and on schedule (down to the minute). How often does that happen? Love their installation videos for each part you order and diagnostic help. At the same time my LG dryer was not heating properly and I was ready to order $200 in parts. Found how to do a reset and the problem was solved for $0. 

I recently had an issue with my LG washer that wasn't giving us an error code. So it came down to diagnosing it by the noise it was making. Took off the back panel of the washer, removed the bolt holding the rotor motor. Confirmed the splines were rounded over. Ordered a new part. Bolted the new part in place. Tested by hand turning the rotor. Replaced the back panel. Done. 

Opened up the back of the machine and removed the motor rotor enclosure and found metal shavings inside the drum. The inner gears had chewed off the teeth on the rotor drum. Ended up ordering just the motor rotor enclosure and then found that the ratcheting was still happening after it was replaced. Determined that the motor rotor sensor must have been the original cause for this gears/teeth being damaged. Once the motor rotor sensor replaced, the ratcheting stopped and the washer was fixed. 

Just removed the direct drive and replace it. It took 10 minutes at the most.
