John F Gloucester , VA December 15, 2015 Appliance: LG Washer WM2016CW Broken spider I watched the video on how to disassemble my LG TROMM. I then did so. I thought the bearings were bad. Once I disassembled the machine, the spider had broken in two places. I ordered the parts which arrived two days later and replaced and reassembled the machine and tested it. Now it works like a charm and I paid under $100.00 for the parts that I needed. I saved a ton of money and the machine runs as good as it did the day I got it 7 years ago! Brian R North Andover , MA November 21, 2015 Appliance: Model LG WM2016CW Corroded spider causing excessive wear and burning on the door boot gasket Replaced the spider, tub seal, door boot gasket and the boot clamp. Things to note: (1) the bolts for the spider were rusted in place, needed WD-40 and impact wrench to remove. Avoid destroying the bolts since the spider doesn't come with new ones. (2) this requires complete disassembly of the washer, take the opportunity to clean the tub and any hoses that may be gunked up and also replace any smaller parts while you have easy access to them.(3) the hardest part of the job is reinstalling the two boot clamps since they are so tight, be persistent, they are critical parts and will go back on. I wish I had replaced the bearings while I was in there even though I don't think they were worn. I did it as a one man job, but needed a helper to lift the assembled tub/drum in and out of the unit. After doing this repair (I had previously replaced a pump with the help of APP) I feel like I know that washer inside and out and can replace anything on it. Read More... Philip M Ann Arbor , MI October 10, 2015 Appliance: LG Washer WM2016CW The spin didn't work well and there was smoke and burning rubber smell I researched symptom and discovered bad "spider" was probably the culprit. I reviewed the excellent video on appliancepartspro on how to repair. Disassembly was easy. Replacing the spider was easy. The seating of the door boot gasket and getting the wire clamps on properly took forever - need to make sure the inner part is seated properly (not obvious from the video). First try had bad water leak (from not seating inner gasket properly), had to redo. Worked great after that. Read More... Alan G Pembroke Pines , FL July 10, 2015 Appliance: LG Washer WM1815CS Grinding noise from worn bearings Followed your video and tore the washing machine completely down. VIdeo was very helpful, but there were a few differences. Initially was going to only replace the bearings, but after removing the spider decided best to replace that also - as shaft was scored. Most difficult part was removing the old bearings, but a 4 lb dead blow hammer remedied that. It also helped with the installation of the new bearings. I also replace the 3 shock absorbers and the inside door seal retainer. Stretching out the spring was also difficult -made easier by two people. The machine is now back together and operating as new. Daniel L Evansville , IN June 09, 2015 Appliance: LG Washer WM2016CW Corroded and cracked drum hub (spider) After viewing the bearing repair video, I simply reenacted the repair man's role. Great video! I found the bearings to be in good order so I started looking elsewhere. Thus discovering the cracked hub. The six bolts holding the hub to the drum needed a bit of heat and a impact driver to release as they are installed with permanent (red) Loctite. Read More... Angel B Bogota , NJ May 24, 2015 Appliance: LG Washer WM1812CW Wobbling and smell of smoke Ordering from AppliancePartsPros.com was easy, and the part was shipped out the same day and arrived within two days. After viewing the video on how to replace the spider, replacing the part was quick and easy.
