John G Bel Air , MD February 09, 2015 The inner stainless tub on my fromt load washer was rubbing to the point of smoking ans wobbled when you pushed on it I went online and, by inputting my washing machine model and make, found a tutorial of how to replace the part I felt was the issue. I put my laptop on the dryer and went step by step (I used the pause button a lot) disassembling my washer. When the final parts were removed, I found that the spider was cracked - the spider is the back support on the inner tub. I ordered a new on online and had it 2 days later. I put the laptop back on the dryer and followed the reassembly step by step process until the machine was back together. The part cost $102.00 including shipping and I probably saved about $300.00 to $400.00 in labor costs. The entire job took about 3 hours. My machine runs like new. Read More... Brian K La Vernia , TX December 15, 2014 Rubber burn smell in the final spin cycle During the final spin cycle of each load there was a terrible smell of burning rubber and at first thought that it could be a belt or bearings going out. After taking the washer totally apart it was obvious from the condition of the old spider that it was what was causing the issues. It was a little challenge getting the six screws out that hold the spider in but once that was accomplished it went back together fairly easy. Read More...
