How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP4204358 / DC62-00156A Washer Tub Seal

Completely disassembled the washer to gain access to the inner drum. Removed old disgusting rotted stinky spider arm, cleaned mounting area and installed new spider with new bolts, rear tub seal for spider shaft, outer tub seal and reassembled. Note: The moldy smell these washers are prone to having was due to this part. New part no smell. I did not bleach or do any special cleaning while this machine was apart, only cleaned the area where the spider mounts to the inner tub and the smell is gone. 

New bearings and seal 

Took apart the top and front cover pulled tub out popped seal and replaced bearings 

Changed door boot, but after getting that ready to reinstall new boot we dropped a toothbrush in between the drum and the inner tub which required disassembly of the whole drum assembly. Had to order a new drum seal oring and a new rear seal. 

I first ordered the balance ring and watched the video then disassembled the washer to replace the ring, in the process noting the inner tub wasn't centered, it could be lifted up and you could hear metal grating. When I took the outer shell apart and lifted the tub out I saw the spider as it's called had detierated to the point where it broke. the motor shaft wasn't connected to the tub. I ordered the drive assembly and a seal. Now it runs like it did when it was new. The video was very helpful. My machine was different than the one in the video but came apart the same way. 

Replaced the spider arm plus seal and gasket while I had it apart that far. 

I utilized YouTube videos for the correct process of replacement. It wasn't a "difficult" process, just extremely time-consuming. After the fix, my washer is running like new! 

Watched the video. And did the work. 

Replaced the Drive Shaft Assembly with the help of the online video. The repair took all day, however, I took my time and made sure to catalog every part that I took off and every screw that I removed, which made it very straightforward to put back together. Even though the video was not the exact model of my machine, the steps were essentially the same. For being an almost complete teardown of the unit and rebuilding the process was fairly simple, especially with the video. This also gave me a chance to completely clean the washing machine drums and other components. Put it back together and it ran just like new! 

Followed my man Bob Ross step by step. It's a big job, kind of a pain. Fitting the shock absorbers is tricky. Mostly though, when you get inside it will probably be filthy. Especially if the bearing has leaked the grease all over. Plan to clean outside with a hose and a brush and lots of grease cutter. Other than that, it's doable, difficult, takes hours to get it all cleaned out. Used an old toothbrush to clean out the various hoses, got things roughly back to like new inside. That's pretty satisfying. As always I love not throwing things away when they can be repaired.
