I replaced the spider arm assembly. While I was on this job, I went ahead and replaced the four shocks and the two seals around the tub and arm assembly. You will definitely want to order new bolts for the assembly as the old heads will likely snap off. They did for me, and same on one of the instructional videos on YouTube by Appliancepartspros. These are excellent and guided me through every step.
If you are handy, this is a job you can do. It took me several hours between dis-assembly and the repair, but I went slow and was meticulous because I'd never done it before and wanted to do it right
The first time. Most of the tasks are straightforward. It took me some time to line up the first shock, but the others went on quickly. The only problem I encountered was replacing the front band, the one with the spring. I couldn't get it back on. I ended up having my wife hold it in place while I stretched it, and it slid into place.
I'd also suggest paying attention to the dis-assembly. The videos didn't provide torque specs for re-assembly, so it's helpful to remember how tight you want to put the bolts in.
