How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3872692 / 8201756 Broken Tab Ice Door Kit

I ordered the kit above that was a retrofit to this refrigerator as this part is not available. 

Purchased the Broken Tab Ice Door repair kit. 

Went fine. You sent no directions with the repair kit. I called a service tech and we figured it out. I have a Roper Whirlpool frig. This unit has three tabs, not two. The third tab keeps the pin from backing out to the right. The metal repair bracket will fit after removing the plastic hanger brackets. DO NOT remove the far right tab!!!! That tab after metal bracket is installed will hold your door pin in place as this model doesn’t use the pin keeper at the end of the pin. Hope this helps someone else. 

Ordered your Broken Tab Ice Door kit. Listened to your video. 

Ordered this kit, I also has to trim the wiring co er since it was extended due to the new bracket that was installed interfering with the switch operation. Easy fix though. 

I had someone install the repair kit. 

Should have bought this years ago. No instructions with kit, not a problem with the company. The video helped for installing, just not to my particular refrigerator. Had to modify the ice door lever to motion switch with a dremel. Now my ice door seals, and the freezer doesn't leak any more. Great shipping as I received the part in 2 days. 

First off, I ordered the part and received it 24 hours later. I watched the "How To" video on the website and followed the instructions to a tee. The instructions were so simple, clear, and precise. I know where to come if I need another appliance part. 

Removed panel (video invaluable here). Removed second panel. Didn't disconnect any wiring, just followed the video directions. Very pleased with my accomplishment! 

Determined that the ice door was broken, the plastic hinge tab had broken off - part of the whole ice door assembly, looked like it was going to be impossible to fix. BUT - found the Broken Tab Ice Door Kit on Appliance Parts Pros. Was very surprised that someone had figured out how to put a kit together to repair the issue without having to replace the entire freezer assembly, or worse having to replace the entire unit! Repair kit was very good, repair video was clear and easy to follow, the repair was relatively simple if you're handy.
