How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5805371 / W10619006 Dishwasher Door Latch Assembly

I would have to keep un plugging the unit from the outlet. I noticed that during the wash cycle, when I opened the door the wash cycle would not stop as it did before. I suspected the door latch switch to be the issue. Once I ordered it, I replaced it by removing the torx screws from the inside of the dishwasher door. Then I un plugged the door latch switch and the control panel to remove the stainless steel door cover. Removal of the switch was easy as prying tabs. I replaced the switch with the new one and plugged all the terminals back. I then replaced the stainless steel door back on and put the torx screws back (remember that the torx screws in the top part of the door are larger than the rest of the sides). I tested the unit and it work fine. 

I went to the Appliance Parts Pro site and reviewed the offered repair video. Then I ordered the replacement part. I was pleasently that the part arrived in one day. I had the part; I had the knowledge; I replaced the part. Works fine now. 

Replaced door latch assembly. T15 torx, needle nose pliers. removed top door trim, loosened door panel. removed and replace switch and latch. Wiring harness for switch is flimsy use caution. A bit of a pain to align everything when going back together but overall not a bad repair. Must replace strike, the original one doesn't line up well. Latch slides out with a little help from needle nose pliers. 

We ordered the part from AppliancePartsProcom. It came in a couple of days. The part was the correct one and my dishwasher is back to 100%. We are very pleased with the delivery time and the easy of ordering on their website. 

Removed control panel where latch and handle are located beneath. Removed front cover plate of dishwasher to reach last handle screw and removed a wire connector to the latch. Then replaced parts in reverse order of disassembly. 

Our dishwasher went out and there were no lights on the control panel. After browsing the Internet on the problem I checked out appliance parts pros for the part. I found two problems one of the latch switches indicated that it was bad. It also shows that the thermal fuse was bad so I decided to change both. The appliance parts pros videos were very instructive and made the repair easy. The new switch was physically different than the original but it fit without any issue. The one thing I will advise is when you put the new latch into the slot on the closure make sure that it is secure I thought mine was secure but when I closed The door the latch pulled loose and I had to take the door apart again to figure out how to get the latch to release. That would probably be a good video for appliance parts pros tonight. It’s not obvious how to get the latch released from the switch. Replacing both the fuse and the latch switch put our washer back in operation. Dealing with the lower part of the door on your own is a little bit of a problem. So if you have someone hold one side makes it much easier. 

I looked at one video on U Tube to get a rough idea of what was involved. I then simply disassembled the door panel, pulled out the old switch and latch and replaced with the new ones. I pulled the dishwasher from under the cabinet to take out the old latch but realized after the fact that this was not necessary. This made the whole task longer than it should have been. A simple installation diagram would have been helpful. 

Replaced the Electronic control board and door latch assembly. 

Husband thought it was the door latch, which is the part we ordered. He replaced the original door latch but that apparently wasn't the problem. Looks like we'll have to buy a new dishwasher. 

Took apart the dishwasher, and found the touch board fried. Looked up the price and ordered it. Was here in 2 days.
