Repair went splendidly. My only regret is paying a guy $80 to come out and tell me it would cost another $350 to do it before biting the bullet and attempting it myself. Still, I've only down about $200 and I don't have to buy another dishwasher for the time being, so I'm very happy. I suspect the dubious quality of Whirlpool's parts will have me doing this again in a couple years if I'm unlucky. If I have to do this 3 more times, It'll still be cheaper than buying a new dishwasher of the "same quality".
Even without printed instructions, this repair is pretty straightforward especially if you did the install yourself and are familiar with that aspect of it. I do recommend taking pics of the wire routing to all of the different components on the pump/motor assembly before you start disconnecting everything. It took me about 40 minutes since it was my first time fixing a dishwasher (or any appliance for that matter). If I had to do it again I could probably knock it out in 15 minutes. If I was charging $1 a minute like the repair company I had over to diagnose the issue and give an estimate, it would probably take 3 hours. Maybe 5.
