How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6005764 / WP21001598 Suspension Spring

I replaced the snubber ring and the suspension springs. Thanks to the video for the fix, the job was fairly easy to do. It is a very involved process, but doable. 

I got 6 new tube springs an a new belt an that done the trick. Thank you for the quick shipping.

Last year I ordered a new controller for our beloved Maytag Atlantis washer, which is now 22 years old and looks great. The problem then was that it skipped draining for rinse/spin cycles. Problem fixed. Recently I ordered a new suspension springs/snubber ring in hopes of solving the washer always knocking way off balance during spin cycles. So bad it actually walked the washer sometimes. The installation was way more complicated than the controller install, and the wife and I had the washer apart all over a tarp. Replaced the new parts, inspected other old parts, cleaned and sanitized the tub, and put it all back together. Wow - spins like new again, with no balancing issues. If I had only to replace the new parts sent it would have taken about 1 hour, however, the other things we did while the machine was apart added about another hour. No problem. The repair was an adventure - Realized that the video made things appear easier than it was. Unlike the video lab, cramp space created a challenge. Accessing and removing the springs was the most difficult. Used quarters to stretch springs and remove them. Eventually disconnected the unit to get it outside on the patio. Dissemble unit to remove the panel and have better access to install new springs. Being a 69yo whose strength is not what it use to be. I had to devise a tool (nail extractor and Allen wrench) to create leverage to attach new springs. Belt didn't attach as easily as the video showed. The snubber ring didn't seem too worn, but there seems to be some white shredding, so replace it. The only issue now is hinge pin hole has rust. So the lid slides some. Four hours to install turned to three days with pondering. Will take that compared to a $315 service call. Thanks 

Purchased snubber ring, suspension spring and drive belt and replace them all. Follow the videos and repair is not too bad. Most difficult part is replacing the springs, if you can get the tool the best, otherwise locking pliers is a must. I'm a small guy but still was able to do it. Install the most difficult ones first, in the back. Tilt the tub towards that spring to shorten the distance that you have to raise. About 2 hours. Washer balance is better now. Should work for anther few years. Worth it. 

Put a new snubber ring on, the old one was in terrible condition, and put new suspension springs around it. It runs like a new washing machine. The video's help. Thank you Appliancepartspros for great parts yet again! I have ordered parts here for other appliances, always great! 

Replaced snubber ring and suspension spring. I have had experience repairing appliances so it was not that difficult. However, it should not be attempted alone. The video was right on. 

Replaced suspension springs, snubber ring, thrust bearing kit, drive belt. Suspension springs were easy to replace with the help of wife. I removed the 11 screws that secure the outer shell to the frame and the springs were then accessible. Wife tilted the tub so that the springs were easy to stretch into position. Worst part was the C shaped washer that secures the thrust bearing kit to the shaft. Took well over an hour, even using the thin washer. Had to use a screwdriver to pry up the shaft and then I hooked just a small part of the washer into the notch of the shaft. Once that was done, I was able to tap the washer into place with quite a bit of force. Washer still shook a little so I called in the Maytag repair person who informed me that I did a fantastic job and that the washer was in great shape. That opinion cost me $125! By the way, I am 86 years old. I moved the washer into the garage where I had elbow room.
