I Replaced the power resistor. The old resistor had a small burnt spot and tested infinity for resistance.The terminals were too small so I had to make new connector. Any 5000 ohm ceramic filled resistor would have worked also. Read more

Our GE was installed about 8 years ago and was AWESOME for much of its early life. However, progressively its cleaning ability diminished. By replacing all the spray arms (clogged with debris), filters, drain hose, and sump...this dishwasher cleans like it did when it was new! Cost was around $100 (also replaced a wheel and the silverware basket) and labor was relatively simple. And to think...my mother-in-law said, "Wouldn't it just be easier to buy a new one?!?". The Dryer is 10 years old GE Front Load DPVH890JEMG. The drum would intermittently not rotate at the beginning of a cycle and occasionally would rotate but then start and stop throughout the cycle. I replaced the Timer knob components. Removing the cover that contains the Timer was simpler than I anticipated. Just remove the screws on the top of the back of the machine. Hold the cover and lift up and push to the left (facing the front of the washer). Removed the Timer Knob Clip with small needle-nose pliers. Grasped the Timer and turned counterclockwise to remove and unplugged the wiring clip. The timer is seated to the cover and held securely in place with one screw. I seated the new... Read more

Motor control board was flashing 4 times, indicating that the mode shifter had an error. I disconnected the mode shifter's wire from the controller and measured the resistance between the 2 leads with an ohmmeter. Since the reading was infinite, that meant that the mode shifter coil or in-line thermal sensor was electrically open, i.e. bad. After taking off the top and front panels to access the drum, it was easy to see what the problem was. The front drum support was worn through and the 3 drum support glides were gone. The rear drum bearing was also completely worn out. And while I had the dryer apart I also replaced the idler pulley and drive belt. The only hard part was putting the drive belt back on the motor shaft and idler pulley. The dryer is back to drying clothes like a new machine. Read more

The refrigerator is about 8-9 years old. GE Profile side by side with water and ice dispenser in the freezer door. Recently, it was time to replace the MSWF cartridge (the indicator light came on). I've done this numerous times over the years, but on this occasion, after installing the new cartridge, I noticed a significant drop in the water pressure and quantity coming out of the dispenser. The glass was easily replaced. Just a few screws to remove cover then remove bad glass then i dropped in the replacement glass then reinstalled cover. Ithen put the door back in the stove. 15 minute job!!! I was so surprised to see how easy it was!!! Thanks! Part fit perfectly!!! Read more

Easy fix. Both elements replaced while I was at it, so all new. Figured if one went the other was going to follow. CIRCUIT BREAKER OFF. Removed the back metal panel with my nut driver for the hex head screws. Note where the panel may slip under tabs for support. Remove slip on electrical connections on upper and lower elements. TALKED TO YOUR REPRESENTATIVE AND WE WENT THROUGH ALL THE ON/OFF AND LIMIT SWITCHS. NARROWED IT DOWN TO TWO SWITCHS. THE ON/OFF SWITCH AND THE LIMIT SWITCH ON THE DOWN CYCLE SIDE. The replacement arm arrived promptly. Removing the old spray arm hub was very difficult by hand, plumbers wrench, or adjustable wrench. However, by inserting a screwdriver trough the two opposite holes where the tabs had broken off, it is relatively easy to unscrew the old hub. Read more
