This is a Whirlpool washer inner tub spin basket. The spin basket is the portion of the washing machine the clothes are held. This piece must operate efficiently for the items in the washer to be thoroughly cleaned. The main indicators of a damaged spin basket are the loss of the ability to spin or the washer making loud noises due to moving and rattling of the spin basket.Begin installing the new basket by unthreading the screws that fasten the top portion of the washer to the base. Tilt this back, and use a screwdriver to unfasten the clips that hold the top of the tub in place. Remove the fabric softener reservoir from the center of the basket. Use a socket to unbolt the agitator at the bottom of the tub. Once this is removed, reach down and lift out the old tub.
