Looked at Dishwasher. Scratched head and armpit. Told wife I would fix, not repariman. Wife skeptical - shook head. Found schematic on web. Found YouTube video of guy repairing same DW model. Disassembled. Diagnosed problem. Chopper assembly welded in place by water scale -broke removing. Potty mouth. Ordered parts. Waited for parts. Washed dishes by hand. Wife doing ok. Removed bottom cover, located leak at float switch, removed and replaced float switch kit. The toughest part of the repair was removing the Float & Retainer Assembly (in the interior of the machine tank) which broke when I pushed it back and pulled it straight up as suggested in the service manual. I initially just removed the spray arm and top cover of pump assembly inside the bottom of the washer. Removed match sticks, broken glass bits, a small metal ball, broken plastic fork. Thought problem would be solved, but no,and was disappointed the sound remained after reassembly and a test wash cycle. That basically left the circulation pump. Figured it was either the capacitor and/or motor. Ordered both parts to be sure. tried changing the capacitor first; same problem. Replaced the motor (leaving the new capacitor in place). Unit now works fine. Overall an easy fix once you get the washer out and tip it on its side or top to get access to the motor area. Read more
