This damper actuator controls the air damper that directs cold air between compartments, helping maintain consistent temperatures. Replacing a worn actuator restores regulated airflow and reduces uneven cooling or temperature swings. What it does:

  • Moves the air/damper door to open or close the airflow path between freezer and fresh-food sections.
  • Helps balance compartment temperatures by adjusting how much cold air is shared.
  • A failing actuator can cause uneven cooling, temperature fluctuations, or reduced cold air in the fresh-food compartment.
  • May make clicking noises or show no damper movement when faulty.
What's included: One damper actuator. Install notes:
  • Disconnect power to the appliance before starting any service.
  • Access typically requires removing the damper housing or control cover in the fresh-food compartment.
  • Align the actuator shaft with the damper linkage, seat the gear, and reconnect the electrical connector — do not force parts.

Diana, this is likely going to be a defrost failure. The defrost heater 5304526032 can be tested for resistance to identify if it is the cause of failure and it should measure 58 Ohms of resistance.

Hello Dan, While we do not have any specifications on the parts from the manufacturer, it appears that one is for a white unit and the other is for a black. Since we do not have a model number to look up, we cannot say if either will work on your unit. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Bob for Model Number GHSC39ETEW1

Need to replace broken water actuator on my Frigidaire refrigerator with part #241685701. Have searched and searched for a video showing how to do this on my model. When I remove the drip tray there are no visible screws anywhere that will allow me to continue. My refrigerator is unique in that there are removable insert panels on the front freezer and refrigerator doors. Then there is a plastic sheet with all the ice/water control buttons, but it is not screwed in anywhere. How do I remove this panel so I can replace the water actuator. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Bob, In order to remove the dispenser front you will need to remove the panels on the unit and using a flat blade screwdriver, pry the bottom of the dispenser panel for it to pop off. Once this is done you will remove 4 screws in the housing to be able to pull the housing out to change the lever.

Hello Dan. Use painters tape to surround the fountain control cover. Then use a small screwdriver and remove the spill catcher inner plate. If there are hidden screws on the bottom (just revealed) remove them. They can be a Phillips screw, a 1/4" screw or a T-20 torx screw. If so then try to lift up on the fountain control board and out of place. If not then you need to release the fountain control hidden outer clips to remove the cover. Usually the clips are on the bottom or the sides. Remove the electrical connector and lay aside the cover. Then the inner control to remove and replace the paddle assy.
