The Dishwasher Control Board is an OEM part for Frigidaire dishwashers. It operates as the central "brain" of the dishwasher, controlling functions like cycle selections, wash and rinse levels, heating elements, and input/output sensors.

Causes can be circuitry failures, moisture damage over time, or physical stresses from vibration.

Symptoms of a bad control board include:

  • Cycle failure or inability to start or complete washing
  • Temperature or input/output sensor malfunctions
  • Fault codes appearing or strange appliance behavior
  • Unresponsive buttons or input failures

This OEM Frigidaire part can also be used on Electrolux, Frigidaire, Gibson, Kelvinator, Westinghouse, and Sears/Kenmore.

Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Control Board (Part Number: OEM18857982)

PK, You will want to check first to make sure that the drain pump is getting power to it. Pull the kickplate off and put your test leads between the 2 terminals of the motor and push drain cancel and see if there is power. If not then the control board will be the cause for the failure. If there is 120 vac then the motor is faulty and would need replaced.

Sohaibh, Based on the description it does sound like the issue with the unit would be the control board.

The green light on Normal wash is lit up but I am unable to change to any mode or start the dishwasher. I am unable to cancel or press any other setting. There is a small pool of water in the drain area. The float moves up and down fine. The latch works good. This first started about two months ago when the dishwasher would start fine and then the lights would flash and it wouldn't cycle through the wash. I would have to restart the wash cycle.

Hello Ralph, The unit is designed to pause and only circulate water during the water heating part of the cycle. The unit should be connected to a hot water supply of about 120° to 125°F and it has to heat the water to about 140°F. The control board has to see this water temperature increase to advance in the cycle. I would check for 120Vac to the heating element. If not there, check for continuity through the thermostat 154290204. If good, replace the control 5304512731.

Troy, If the door switches have continuity when you push the door closed and the unit is not turning on then the issue would be a faulty control board.

Stonecrusher, If there is no power getting to the control board then you will want to check the door switches to make sure that they are ok. This is the first point after the power supply connection before it gets to the control board.

Pat Adams for Model Number MRT18TRFW1

The fridge works sometime, and sometimes not, it's become unreliable. Fridge and freezer get warm (ambient) and interior light flickers whenever the refer door is open. I got PO'd once and slammed the freezer door (no ice), the unit kicked on and worked for a couple days, then stopped again. Slammed the freezer door again and it works. This has become a nightly-1 preventive maintenance check, but would like to really correct the problem. Thanks Pat

Pat, In a lot of cases the reason the unit would warm up to room temp and not continue operation would be caused by a defrost timer that is sticking and not coming out of the defrost cycle. When you notice the unit not being on, instead of slamming the door, access the defrost timer and advance it and if the unit kicks on then that is the issue.
