Hello Jeff. If you can turn the control down, and the damper does not close, you will need to replace the cold control 241537104 on the unit.

Hello Kia, You need to check to see if the compressor is running. If not, the start relay may have failed. If it is running, you need to feel of the compressor to see if it is real hot or if it is about room temperature. If it is real hot, there is most likely a restriction in the sealed system. If it is about room temperature, the Freon has escaped from the sealed system.

Tom, This issue sounds like it is being caused by an airflow issue or faulty thermostat. If the air flow is not good when the unit is running and the freezer is at -20 degrees then the most likely cause would be the damper not opening in the refrigerator section properly. If the damper is operational then the issue is most likely a bad thermostat for the refrigerator section.

Gamebirdguy for Model Number frididaire FRS26KR4DQ8

Ref and freezer runs fine both freezes and gets cold but then after a while when compressor goes off does not always come back on then temp starts to get warmer when ref and freezer knobs are manually moved to off and then back on the compressor kicks on and things back to normal if it is a tem control thermostat which one the freezer or ref ? I have taken the inside panel off freezer good frost patern on coil and have seen it go into defrost cycle and cycle back on ? thanks

Steve for Model Number FRS6R4EW2

My freezer will freeze and fridge will get cold if I manually turn the freezer knob to kick the compressor on.Once the compressor kicks off, my freezer will start to thaw, roughly 6-8 hours. But once I turn the freezer knob to the next number, the compressor kicks on and it starts freezing again. Seems like something isn't kicking the compressor on at any temp. Is this the freezer thermostat or the adaptive defrost? Or am I totally off base here?
