Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Freezer Temperature Control (Part Number: OEM17847765)

Hello Willy, First check the return air duct at the bottom rear, (behind the drawers), for any obstructions. If it is clear, check the damper for frost build-up and normal operation. If these check good, make sure the foam seal between the damper housing and cabinet liner is fully seated between the two so air cannot pass. If these all check good, the likely cause is the cold control 5304496561 fresh food side, or 240383703 freezer side, has likely failed. As a note, the freezer thermostat controls the compressor and the fresh food thermostat controls the damper.

Hello John. It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the back wall of the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello Diane, This is an air flow issue with the damper assembly 5304482075. If it were closing as it should, the temperature in the fresh food compartment would not be getting down too low. Before ordering any parts, you should remove the control box and make sure there isn't a frost build up causing the damper door to remain open. If there is, you need to look for an air leak around the doors and at the ice door. If there isn't a frost build up, the damper door will have to be replaced. This particular model replaces the damper with the control box assembly.

Hi Heidi. Inside the fresh food controls on the left towards the rear is a defrost control board part # 5303918476. It does control the defrost run time on/off due to the defrost circuit on/off aprox. every 6 -1/2 hrs. If you try to jumper the cold control wires together and still get no response, then I would change the defrost board. If the compressor does come on at this time, you will need to change the cold control part # 241537104. Thank You.
