Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Compressor Run Capacitor (Part Number: OEM12947568)

Larry, It sounds like the unit may be in a defrost mode and is tripping the GFCI when the heater kicks on. You will want to check to make sure that the heater on the bottom of the evaporator coil is not damaged. Also if you turn then dial that is in the little hole at the bottom of the control housing in the refrigerator section til there is a loud click this should bring in out of defrost. Also you want to use the unit on a circuit that is not a GFCI.

Judy, Did you slide the refrigerator out and check and clean the condenser coil on the back of the refrigerator. and the area under the refrigerator. When you put it back in position make sure you leave 2 or 3 inches between the wall and back of the refrigerator and an inch or so between the sides of the refrigerator and the walls. If all's OK, then check or replace the temperature control. The soot inside the refrigerator is usually due to candles and fireplaces, etc. being used in the house.

Mike Isaname for Model Number Fridgidaire FFU21K2CW0

I manually defrosted the unit. Pluged it back in and after 4 hours it was down to 5*. I put the food back in, the next day it was still at 5*. But since then it keeps rising 3-5* a day until it reached 31*. When I first noticed that it was warming up I started increasing the thermostate, until it was maxed out. It did not make a difference. I removed the food and started checking things out. I turned the unit back on, with the same results. After 2 days it just keeps warming up! What is the problem?

Mike, This issue sounds like you may have a restriction somewhere in the sealed system. This would be a floating restrictions and you would want to contact service to come check the unit.

Sudi, This would be a compressor that is faulty as it sounds like the run winding is bad in the compressor which is why it shuts off after 5 seconds.

Hello Tim, The capacitor could have been defective so I recommend calling us with the units' model and serial number at 1-877-477-7278 so we can re-ship the part. If the new capacitor fails as quickly you should have a Freon certified technician come out to verify that the compressor is not going into failure.
