The Compressor Run Capacitor is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire refrigerators. This electrical component is essential for providing the necessary torque to start and maintain the operation of the compressor motor, which is responsible for cooling the refrigerator.

Symptoms of a failing compressor run capacitor include:

  • The refrigerator not running or cooling properly
  • The compressor failing to start or running intermittently
  • Humming or buzzing noises coming from the compressor area

Causes of needing to replace the compressor run capacitor can include normal wear over time, exposure to high temperatures or electrical surges, or physical damage to the capacitor itself.

This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore refrigerator models.

Hello Daniel, I'm sorry but it appears the start relay, overload, and compressor have all been discontinued by the manufacturer and no satisfactory substitutions have been provided. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Bruce, If you defrosted the unit and it worked good then this would most likely be an issue with the defrost system and will want to check the defrost heater and thermostat for continuity. If they have continuity then they are good and the defrost control will be the issue.

Shaun, If the compressor is still not running after replacing the overload and relay then this will be a compressor issue. If the compressor is running then check the frost pattern on the evaporator coils to make sure that the coils are getting an even frost pattern top to bottom. If no frost pattern and compressor running then this will be a sealed system issue. You will want to give the unit 24 hours to obtain proper temperature.

I have a display refrigerator that stopped cooling. The set up is a 1/5 Hp compressor, a 10uF run capacitor, and a condenser fan. I couldn't hear if the compressor was running so I manually started it and it ran and began cooling but when I put the fan back into play the temperature starts to rise again. Is it possible that the compressor is just not spinning fast enough?? The compressor does get real hot when the fan is not in line but the fridge temperature does drop significantly, but when fan is put back in line the compressor cools down but the fridge temperature rises. Any ideas?? Thanks.

Sep, The fan should have no bearing on the refrigerator rising temps as long as the compressor is running. The capacitor on the compressor is just a trickle run capacitor in which it would not cause this issue and the only other thing that would potentially cause this is if the compressor is not starting on its own would be a bad relay.

Vince, If the compressor is taking several attempts to start then check to make sure that the condenser fan is running. If it is running then this issue would most likely be caused by a faulty start relay.

Hello Moises, You should make sure the condenser fan is running at full speed and the air flow is not blocked by lint/dust on the condenser coils. If good, remove the rear wall of the freezer compartment to view the frost pattern. It should be even from top to bottom. If there is a clump of ice at the top of the coils, this indicates a Freon loss and will need a Freon certified technician for the sealed system diagnosis and repair. As a note, if the unit is in a garage or on a porch, (especially in the sun), it should not be expected to maintain proper temperatures since the hot coils must be in an atmosphere cool enough for the unit to operate properly, (75° to 80°F is as warm an atmosphere as the unit can tolerate for normal operating temperatures to occur).

Hello Robert. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the temp control 5304421174 is bad on the unit. Sorry, but this part has been permanently discontinued by the manufacturer and we don't know of any source or replacement for the part.

Hello Joe. It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the evaporator coils in the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
