For Frigidaire Freezer Electronic Touch Pad Control Panel (Part Number: OEM18999918)

1 Answer

John, To remove the control panel of the unit you will need to remove the 2 screws from the air grill at the top of the unit and remove the grill by pushing the right and left tabs of the grill. Remove one screw holding the control panel to the oven cavity face plate. Release the control panel from the face plate by lifting up on the control panel. Disconnect the wire leads and remove the control panel assembly from the unit.

Dave, If the unit froze a -23 but was not down to the required temperature then this would most likely be a thermistor error. The thermistor is part number 297018400.

I already ordered a control module but I'm getting conflicting information on how to replace it for my specific Frigidaire model. Any advice? I'm replacing it because the Door Ajar and Power Loss red lights keep coming on. If I turn the power off for 5-10 minutes and then back on, it works fine for a day but the next day the lights are on again. All the research I did said to replace the control module, so I have one on order from this Web site.

1 Answer

Rob, On this control module you will need to get something up under the edge of it and pop it loose.

Hello George, The control 297235200 snaps out of the front of the door. The new one will plug in as it is inserted and snaps back into its' proper position.

I loss power to my Freezer for about 15 minutes and later in the day after power was restored my freezer controller said door ajar and loss of power for 36 hours (error) and inside temperature was 26 degrees. A check with a electronic monitor said 5 to 15 degrees. I could not make the freezer run. Disconnected power for 15 minutes and freezer restarted when plugged in and ran until door was opened and once again controller said door ajar and loss of power. When the door was opened the light flickered on and off before turning off. You could repeat the process by unplugging power for 15 minutes and resetting the temperature. Works okay until door is opened. Nothing on the controller works during the time that controller says door ajar and loss of power. Do I need to replace the controller or some other part?

1 Answer

Bill, Yes, the controller will be the correct part to replace based on the issue that you are having with the unit.

Newmanjet, There is no way to deactivate the door alarm from the control board. For this issue it would most likely be the control board that is causing the issue.

Every time I open the freezer door, the power went off and the light blink inside. Sometime power will come back on after, sometime don't. There was one time it didn't come back on just with temp showing 11, then change to 1. I tried to power off by switching the fuse off from the fuse panel since the power is back of the freezer very hard to reach. It didn't work. Then I start to press the buttons on the control panel and one I put pressure on the display screen. It's change thing on the display screen, and then finally the power of the freezer came back on. I did the same thing few time by putting pressure on around the display screen and it's does change, and I can heard the freezer went on and off. Is there something lose in the circuit board of the control panel. Do I have to replace the control panel.

1 Answer

Mike, This issue will most likely be caused by a faulty control board. You could try to test the wires that go through the door but in most cases it is a control board issue that is causing the failure. The part number for the control board is 297235200.
