Jimmy March 06, 2023 I ordered a replacement control thermostat but the wiring terminals are not the same as the original (5304492453). The replacement thermostat (A03407506) wiring terminals are not in the same location as the original so I can't reference the original. There is a BLUE wire and a BLACK wire but the terminals are not labeled and I can't terminate them if I don't know how they attach. Any suggestions??
1 Answer Jimmy, as the cold control thermostat 5304492453 is a single-circuit switch, the placement of the wires on each terminal would not be strict. As long as there is one wire on each terminal, it will operate properly. Read More...
Mark October 02, 2022 for Model Number FPRH17D7KF1 Refrigerator stopped getting cold. replaced control unit(AP5802324) but no change. Is there another part or step to do before getting a repairman? Fans come on, compressor seems to run(gets warm/hot) lines out of compressor are cold and hot, timer spins like it's working but evaporator doesn't seem to get cold. Thanks
1 Answer Mark, Based on this issue, check for a defrost issue where the evaporator coils are completely iced up. If the coils are iced up then check for continuity on the heater and the defrost thermostat. Replace whichever is bad. If the coils have very little frost then it will be required to have service out as there is a sealed system issue. Read More...
4T_Design May 03, 2022 for Model Number PLRU1778ES0 Hi, my Frigidaire thermostat appears to be bad, it doesn't maintain a constant temperature, but when I touch or turn the dial it cools down to 36 degrees and stop. But after a while it wouldn't run again until I gently touch it or turn the dial. I bought a replacement non-oem p/n 5304492453, installed it and even on the lowest setting it cools down to 31 degrees and stops. It does appear to start and stop, but is freezes my food. If i purchase this part from you (5304492453) do you think this will correct the issue? This OEM part is very expensive compared to the non OEM ones. Thank you.
1 Answer 4t_design, It may be that the non-oem part was not calibrated properly and getting the OEM part would be the best option. You could try to see if there is an adjustment screw on the one you received and adjust it to see if this will work. Normally it is right by where the dial would be at on the thermostat. Read More...
Tim June 20, 2020 for Model Number ED25TWXDNO1 I replaced the thermostat and temp control still won't go below 50 degrees what could be the problem??
1 Answer Tim, it would be recommended that the evaporator is inspected to identify if there is a frost pattern. If there is a large amount of frost built up that can restrict airflow, the defrost heater WP2323198 and bi-metal WPW10225581 would need to be tested for resistance. From the pink wire going to the bi-metal to the black wire leaving the element, the resistance should measure between 27-21O. If there is not resistance, the heater would be tested for the same resistance from the black wire to the black wire to identify if the failure is the heater or the bi-metal. If there was resistance when doing the first step, it would be likely that the defrost timer W10822278 has failed. If there is not a light frost pattern on the entire evaporator, there is a sealed system failure that would require an EPA certified individual to properly diagnose and repair. Read More...
Bu April 24, 2020 for Model Number PLRU1778EOS I just purchased a CONTROL KIT since the unit wouldn’t cool and sits at 52°F. Once in a while, if I turn the control knob, it would kick on. Most of the time, nothing happens. When I unscrewed everything and was ready to replace the temperature control kit, I saw the coils all iced up. Will this Temperature control kit fix this problem or is something else wrong? I also replaced the DEFROST TIMER 2 weeks earlier and the unit didn’t get cooler.
1 Answer Hello Bu, This is most likely a defrost issue. The most common cause of this complaint is a bad defrost thermostat 216731001. Read More...
Mike H September 06, 2018 for Model Number Sears 253.44723102 I have noticed that the temperture in my refrigrator has not been cooling like it was, so I went to adjust temperture control and fan and compressor came on and it started cooling. It will continue to run for awhile, next time you open it, its not running, bump controller and it all starts running again and cooling. I ordered a replacement controller and a defrost themostat, controller was wrong but themostat was correct, so I changed it and unit ran for several hours and cooled down. This morning, temp was about 38-42 degress and unit wasnt running, again i bumped controller and it started. Would you say controller is bad. The part number on my controller is 216715500
1 Answer Mike, For this issue the controller would be the most likely cause for this issue. Read More...
Ryan December 21, 2016 for Model Number PLRU1778ES0 Fridge runs a lot gets about 60 degrees, but not much lower. Both fans are running well, there is no frost on the inside. The coils under it were fairly dirty and I cleaned them. Have waited about two hours from looking at the inside could and it's still at 60. Is there something else wrong or should I wait longer?
1 Answer Hello Ryan. If the compressor is running, then you have sealed system failure and will need an HVAC tech to come out and repair the unit. Read More...
Dennis Dunaway January 02, 2016 for Model Number PLRH1779GS4 I ordered part 216715500 temperature control, but received part 5304492453 temperature control kit. I am told that 5304492453 replaces 216715500. The plug prongs are different on part number 5304492453 and 1 of the prongs is slightly bent. What is the significance of the slightly bent prong and should part number 5304492453 be the the correct replacement part? Also, what is the wire harness with the 2 white wires used for? Thanks!
1 Answer Dennis, This kit 5304492453 is the correct replacement part for your unit. There is no significance to the terminal being bent and because the voltage just passes through this part and it completes the circuit it would not matter which wire goes to which terminal. As for the white connector with 2 wires. It may be used on specific models which yours does not appear to need. Read More...
Silvano October 25, 2015 My original control thermostat (216715500) has two prongs, the replacement I got has three prongs. How should I connect the new part and what do I do with the wiring that also came with the part? Thank you and I appreciate any help with this.
1 Answer Hello Silvano, This part will have two terminals that are insulated from the housing. The other terminal is a ground terminal for the thermostat housing for electrical shock protection. The harness is included with the part for use in applications where needed. This will be by model number, which, because it was not included, I was unable to look up and verify the parts' compatibility with the unit in your home. Read More...
Sivaf March 26, 2015 for Model Number FPRH17D7KF1 This refrigerator started not cooling enough. 60's tech came changed control kit, then it frozed everything. He came back and "adjusted" it but it kept freezing. He said it came factory defective and changed kit with a generic, but it kept freezing everything. He had no more in stock, and I have no refrigerator. He was told to order another one. Please, any suggestions about it?
1 Answer Hello Sivaf, This is most likely the cold control 5304492453. If the tech did not seal the "cup" around the control properly, this can cause an issue just as improper placement of the temperature bulb, (capillary line), of the cold control can. We verified the part number from the manufacturers' parts list so you are getting the correct part. From here, we can only recommend contacting the manufacturer and have them verify the correct part number. Read More...
