Sarah May 23, 2012 for Model Number frt18s6awy My freezer works fine but the refrig. part is barely cool. What could be the problem?
1 Answer Hello Sarah. Make sure the fan motor 5303918549 in the freezer is running. If not, replace the fan motor. If so, It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the back wall of the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Mike May 08, 2012 for Model Number FRS26HF7BB2 Thanks for your very helpful reply. As an update, this appliance repair company sent the owner out with their technician after my complaining. The unit they initially replaced included a new damper control and thermostat controls. Again, they turned the calibration screw another 1/2 clockwise turn and assured me this will eventually take care of freezing in the refrigerator box. What would be causing a brand new damper to stay open? They claim this is a common issue with this particular Electrolux part. I'm getting tired of this freezing issue, what are my options? Seems to me this "tweeking" could go on and on with no change according to your last reply. Should I demand a new part to replace this one?
1 Answer Hello Mike. They need to manually test the damper assembly and make sure the door is opening and closing. They had some issues in the past with the wires not connected good on the dampers on the control box assembly 5304482075. Also, they need to check and make sure the temperature probes are in the correct location. If you turn off the unit, the damper door should close and when you turn it back on, it should open. Mike D May 03, 2012 for Model Number Electrolux Frigidaire FRS26HF7BB2 I had a technician replace the whole front assembly where the temperature controls are, to correct no cold air getting to the box. However, since it was repaired, it's freezing eveything in the refrigerator. I called the tech back out and he showed me a set screw behind the temperature knob. He turned it a quarter turn clockwise and told me this should solve the problem and if it didn't in 48 hours, to give it another quarter turn myself. Is this true? This did not solve the problem whatsoever. Could he have misdiagnosed the problem in that the damper door was closed before and now it is stuck open? Could the damper door motor be the thing that should have been replaced in the first place? Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Mike, The screw the technician showed you is calibrated by temperature at the factory and he destroyed the part by changing the calibration. You will never get the calibration corrected without going to the factory and having it set with their electronic equipment. This has nothing to do with the cold air going to the fresh food compartment. Anytime there is a screw with a "dab" of paint on it, the paint is to prevent the screw from vibrating during shipment and changing the calibration. I would suspect the damper or the air return at the bottom to be blocked or otherwise closed. You can check the bottom, (air return), by pulling the drawer and simply checking the opening to be sure it's clear. The damper can be checked by turning the unit off and back on. It will actuate each time it's turned back on. If you hear it actuate, it's now time to open it up and make sure the door and linkages are free and not blocked by ice or broken. Read More...
Paul March 23, 2012 for Model Number FRS26F4CW0 My Frigidaire Model FRS26F4CW0 was not keeping the food side cold no matter what the setting but the freezer was perfect. The cold food side controller thermostat I currently have has 3 terminals on one side (not counting the ground wire on the right side of the control) and the new part only has 2. How do I hook this up to work if there are only 2 terminals ( once again, not counting the ground on the right side of the control. I saw that someone else had posted the same question but the answer didn't really answer too clearly. Any help is appreciated. Paul
1 Answer Paul, First off, it sounds more like an auto damper issue 5304482075 which would require a kit to repair. Some temp. controls have two grounding methods and will appear to have an "extra" terminal, which will be used, if the wire harness has a green ground wire in it. If the ground wire has an eyelet, then you would mount it to the original position on the casing. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
Herman P February 29, 2012 for Model Number FRS23KF6CBO I ordered part#240383703. Your part#AP2116225. My question is: My thermostat that I took out of my refrigerator has 3 terminals. The part that I ordered only has 2 terminals. What is the answer?
1 Answer Hello Herman. There is three terminals on the temperature control 240383703. One is on the body of the unit and is the ground terminal, and the other two are on the back of the unit and are the power. Hope this helps. Read More...
Jeff January 14, 2012 for Model Number FRS26BH6Cs1 Hi there. I just received this part from your website and am having a bit of trouble installing it. We disassembled the necessary parts, and can replace the thermostat, but we're not sure exactly how to route the probe. The original probe "wire" ends at the back of the fridge in a white sleeve located in damper box. We cannot remove the old probe, as it seems to be permanently attached inside the tube (we have pulled with pliers and a great amount of force). Is it necessary to put the new probe wire back in the white sleeve, or can we just place it near there and bare. Really don't want to take the damper apart as well. Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Jeff. You will need to remove the damper and then remove the old probe from the tube and install the new probe on the control 240383703 into the tube assembly. Hope this helps. Read More...
Tony June 27, 2011 for Model Number frs26hbbsb2 As a follow up question, you state to carefully place the sensor correctly back in place. I assume you mean the tip of the probe? It is run to the back of the fridge, is there a specific location it needs to be in? Answered Question: Hi Tony. It sounds like you need refrigerator temperature control part #AP2151626. Also when you replaced the damper control, did you carefully place the sensors correctly back into place? Thank you.
1 Answer Tony, Correct, the thermal bulb(end of the tube, must be in the middle of the air flow, so we get an accurate temperature reaction, and the control cycles appropriately and maintains the cooling system properly. If you reinstall the component in the same configuration as the original, you'll do fine. Good Luck. Read More...
Tony June 24, 2011 for Model Number frs26hbbsb2 I just replaced this part but it doesn't seem to correct the problem. The damper opens just about as soon as your turn the knob. It keeps the damper open and the fridge side sets below freezing. Between the 0 and 1 setting, the damper opens and closes but if you set it to factory temperature of 5 it just keeps the damper open. Everything in the fridge side freezes. What could be causing this?
1 Answer Hi Tony. It sounds like you need refrigerator temperature control part #5304496561. Also when you replaced the damper control, did you carefully place the sensors correctly back into place? Thank you. Read More...
Mike March 30, 2011 for Model Number FRS26HBBSB2 There are two parts labeled control temp, is this the fridge or freezer side controls? I need to replace the fridge side and I can't tell the difference by the titles.
1 Answer Hello Mike! Control temp 240383703 is used for the refrigerator section. Thanks! Read More...
Craig March 03, 2011 Is there an easy way to determine if the switch is not working/sending the signal to the damper assembly or if the damper assembly is not opening and closing due to the drive/motor causing the fridge to freeze?
1 Answer Hello Craig, If you turn the refrigerator to the off position, the damper should close on the unit. Once you turn it on, the damper should open. If the damper is bad and you order the kit, it comes with a new damper assembly, addaptive board, and both cold controls. Here is the kit number for you. 5304482075 Hope this helps. Read More...
