The Outlet Thermal Fuse is an OEM part for Frigidaire dryers. It acts as a safety device that protects the dryer from overheating by cutting off the power if the temperature exceeds a safe level. This ensures the dryer operates safely and helps prevent potential fire hazards.

Causes of a bad thermal fuse can include lint buildup blocking airflow, overloading the dryer, or mechanical failures in the heating element. These issues can cause the dryer to overheat, leading to the fuse blowing as a protective measure.

Symptoms of a bad outlet thermal fuse include:

  • The dryer not starting
  • The dryer running but not heating
  • Sudden stopping during a cycle
  • No power to the dryer

This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Outlet Thermal Fuse (Part Number: OEM16935747)

SuziQ, with a meter, it would be recommended that the terminal block where the dryer power cord connects to the dryer is tested for 240VAC from the red wire to the black wire, and 120VAC from the red wire to the white wire and black wire to the white wire. If there is proper voltage, the next step would be to test the main control 809160802 for 120VAC from the wire at connection J2 pin 4 to the wire at connection J2 pin 5. If there is 120VAC, the wires going to the user interface 137035290 would need to be inspected for any loose connections or pinched/broken wires. If these all check good, then it would be likely that the main control has failed.

Matt, as long as the wires from the original thermal fuse are placed on either of the terminals of the new one, which terminal they are placed on does not make a difference.

Bruce, you will want to enter the diagnostics mode and get to the error code selection. From there, you will want to press and hold the far left key under the display and “cancel” buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds.

We have so much problems with this dryer. There was two tech. came, fix few time and still not working. We currently already changed the following with the last item brought from your company was the Control Board. My husband installed today a and still not working. Here are the items had been changed below. Please review and let me know what parts that I need to get for the heat to work. We had replaced 1. Control Board, 2. Ignitor , 3. Heat Sensor, 4. Coil kit.

Jennifer, There are 2 components other than the thermostats which would cause the heating element not to work. First is the motor and second the Control board. The best option is to disconnect the power to the unit and access the heating element. Disconnect one wire that is going to the heating element, preferably the one on the thermostat side. Plug the unit back up and using a multimeter you will want to turn the dryer on and test for 120 vac at the terminal on the heater where the wire was disconnected. What this will do is eliminate the heater element itself and the motor. If there is 120 vac at this point then you know the heater is good and the motor is good because the other 120 vac coming through the thermostats is the control board side of the circuit. If there is not 120 vac at that point then you will want to test the other terminal on the heater and check for 120 vac. If there is not 120 vac then the motor would be bad .

Larry, The only part that would cause a door open error if the door switch has already been replaced would be wiring or a control board error. The control board part number is 137260610.

Bill, There are a couple of thermal fuses in the unit that you will want to test for continuity. If these have continuity then they are good and if there is no continuity then the part is bad and would need replaced.

Ivan for Model Number CAQE7001LWO

The dryer runs for a short period and shuts off. It runs for a little longer when I short the door switch, but the shutdown still occurs. When this occurs the display goes blank, but if I re-select the cycle the display acts normal, but press start and it would seem I need to monkey with the door switch before it will turn on again for a 5-10 seconds before the shutdown re-occurs. At the times when I press the start button and it does not start the dryer the machine still emits a beep to acknowledge the buttonpress. When I check the error log I get an E9E error, but it will not clear. I measure 115V from L1 to neutral and gnd, the same with L2, and when I measure between L2 to L1 I get 231V. I run through all the test modes and the dryer works perfectly. I'm thinking control board or door switch or something more. Any ideas? Thanks, Ivan

1 Answer

Ivan, The E9E error code is a low or intermittent voltage to the board. Per the manufacturer it states to check the household wiring or a power supply problem. With the voltage reading that you are getting it sounds normal but you will want to test the power supply at the terminal block when turning the dryer on to make sure that the voltage stays in the same range. If the power supply stays the same then check wiring between the terminal block and the control board and if all checks ok then replace the main control board.

Hello Dave, If it is the exhaust limiter on the exhaust tube, you will need part number 134711401. If it is the inlet limiter on the heater housing, you will need part number 137032600.
