The Regulator is an OEM part for Frigidaire ranges and cooktops. It's designed to maintain a safe and consistent gas flow to the burners, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency during cooking. This regulator adjusts the pressure of the gas coming from your home's supply line to match the requirements of the appliance, allowing for precise temperature control and reliable operation.

Causes of a bad regulator can include general wear and tear over time, exposure to high temperatures or cleaning chemicals that degrade its components, or a malfunction within the regulator itself, such as a stuck valve or broken diaphragm.

Symptoms of a bad Regulator include:

  • Inconsistent flame size or color
  • Burners not lighting
  • A noticeable gas smell when the cooktop or range is on
  • Weak or uneven heating performance

This OEM Frigidaire part is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator and some Kenmore models.

Dude for Model Number Frideadare fgfl88cca

when trying to bake: I usually smell gas before the oven "wooshes" and fires up. It takes a long time to get up to temperature. Baking takes extra long. I opened it up to take a look: The igniter fires up. (looks white/orange) After 2 minutes gas flows to the burner, It won't ignite it though. I had to use a lighter to ignite the flame. It burns evenly across the burner, but the flame is only 1/4" high. In conclusion, The igniter allows gas to flow, but won't ignite it. and the flame is (presumably low.) Will a regulator fix this issue ? -Dude

Hello Jerry. What is happening is called a product of combustion. Somewhere around in the house or near the house someone used or opened some kind of stain, paint, varnish or comparable compound including cleaners. The molecules carry over and get mixed in with air and then burned off from open flame. If you light a candle or a lighter you will smell the same odor, although not quite as strong- the bigger the flame the stronger the odor. The odor should dissipate over the next few days until there are no more molecules from the source left in the air.

Christine, When you have erratic temperatures in an oven, the first check to make or part to replace is the oven temperature sensor WB21X5301. This sensor informs the ERC/Clock when the selected temperature is reached and opens the circuit to the gas valve system and shuts off the gas supply. The sensor can loose it's resistances with time and usage.

Dave, to convert the unit to LP you'll need conversion kit part number 5303286386. The oven orifices are adjustable, tighten them all the way down and back up 1/2 a round. Remove the brass fitting on the regulator, flip it over and screw it back in. Hope this helps, thanks.

Yury for Model Number FGF337AUA

Frigidaire gas range FGF337AUA converted to propane gas.Noticed recently gas smell and found gas leaking through vent orifice in regulator 316091706 breather. Replaced twice by brand new OEM Electrolux(invenys controls) from different vendors, both of them leaking.Verified by electronic leak detector and detection solution. Is it normal for some gas to escape or recent parts are defective?(Cup on regulator was put on lp position and input pressure 10 in w.c.), may I plug that vent or try Y-68506-AF27 made by Robertshaw Uni-line.Thank you in advance for your response.

Hello Yury. It is not normal to leak. You need to contact a certified gas technician to install the part properly if you can not get them to stop leaking. It may be that the install is being done improperly.

David, With the oven valve allowing gas to seep through when the oven is in the off position then you would need to replace the oven safety valve part number 3203459.

Bryan for Model Number Kenmore Gas Range 790.71411400

Hi - Like another user wrote in on here, my Kenmore stove makes a humming noise when I turn on the burners (varies with control knob, ie gets louder when you turn the burner on higher) and this also happens when the oven begins heating. My question is, how do I adjust this regulator to change the amount of gas flow? Most regulators have a slotted screw you can turn to loosen or tighten the control spring, but I couldn't find such a screw on this model. Thank you!

1 Answer

Bryan, On this gas regulator there is no adjustments that can be made to it other than changing from Natural to LP. The regulator would need to be changed if the regulator is the making the noise. The regulator part number is 5304521339.
