Dick R. October 27, 2011 for Model Number as previous A little progress each day, thanks much. I have the top and front off and released the tension on the belt so it is free. Frigidaire instructions say the drum should lift right out but mine won't. Something seems to be holding it at the back end. Any more tips?
1 Answer Hi Dick. At the rear of the drum is a large ball bearing kit part # 5303281153. It will get stuck in the cup. Pull the slack of the belt up to the top of the drum as to use as a "handle" to assist you in pulling the drum up and off. You will then pull fwd. and through the front to carry the tub out. Dick R. October 26, 2011 for Model Number 417.49012890 Thanks for previous answers. I got the top off and see the fuse, but it is very difficult to access which I will need to do in order to disconnect it before testing. The element is inside the drum housing, barely visible, and completely inaccessible unless I remove the housing. Do I need to remove the drum in order to get at these parts? This may be beyond me. Thanks
1 Answer Hello Dick. Yes, you will need to remove the front panel and the drum assembly to access the heater and the thermal limiter 134120900. They are not hard to do, just take your time and write down the steps you are doing so you can reassemble the unit. Hope this helps. Read More...
Dick R. October 25, 2011 for Model Number 417.49012890 I removed the two screws from the hinge-looking things at the top of the back but the top does not budge. I can see no other way to remove the top. Do I need to remove the back first? If so, how? I know this is pretty basic stuff but I really would like to try to fix this myself. Many thanks.
1 Answer Hello Dick. Remove the screws along the back of the top panel, and release the clips under the control panel on the unit. Then slide the top panel toward the back of the unit. These can be very tight to do. Then the panel should lift off the unit. Hope this helps. Read More...
Mike B October 13, 2011 for Model Number LEQ70000EGO Hi Again! Thanks for your quick response to my first question. I did check for continuity on the Thermal limiter. Got my meter to beep so I know it's good. Looks like there was a similar component on the back of the dryer drum near the 1st one and checked that too. Again, good. I wonder if there could be a fuse located on the control board because I found the Tech paperwork inside the unit and tried to do a self test to see the error codes, but I couldn't get any display whatsoever. Also the door light does not even come on, when opened. I confirmed power was present on the block inside the dryer, so I know the plug and receptacle are OK. Can you offer any suggestions? Thanks, Mike B
1 Answer Hi Mike. Remove the top. Unhook at least one wire and ohm a fuse with a closed circuit, not open. Thermal fuse on the back top inside close to the terminal block. Also, make sure all supply wires are tight on the terminal block. Are you getting 240 vac to the unit, with 120 vac to neutral each leg respectively? Follow the pictorial diagram on the unit back. Is the terminal block broken? , Part # is 134101400. There is a thermostat below the other one part # 3204267. Also check by the control board to see if a wire came off the in line filter board. Look At the inner door switch to see if there is a bad connection there as well. Switch part # is 134813661. On the lower blower hsg. there is a thermistor part # 134587700, it will read 10,000 ohms at room temperature's. Thank you. Read More...
Mike B October 11, 2011 for Model Number LEQ7000EGO Had a power failure, and when power was restored the dryer would not run. Checked the breaker and confirmed there was 220V at the plug. I'm thinking it is the Thermal limiter (under problem of "Dryer not working" in manual). Could a power failure cause the limiter to blow?
1 Answer Hello Mike. Yes, you will need to test the thermal limiter 134120900. It should read closed for continuity. If it took a surge, it will blow. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
1 Answer Frank, Your hi limit/safety thermostat and Thermal fuse are both located on the heater element housing on the back of the drum assembly at approximately the 1 or 2 o'clock position when you raise 5he dryer top. The regulating thermostat 134048800is located in the lower front left corner of the cabinet, mounted on the exhaust blower housing. You'll need to remove the dryer front panel and door assembly(s) to access it. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
Frank September 30, 2011 for Model Number kENMORE 417.81142000 My dryer is getting way too hot and scourching cloths. Changing the drying temperature settings does not change this from happening. When in the tumble only (no heat) mode, it is cool. I checked the vent hose and the dryer and not clogged. Cleaned anyway and no difference. Thermal limiter? Anything else? Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Frank. Test the thermostats 3204267 and 134048800 and make sure it is opening and shutting off the heater. If not, you will need to replace the thermostat. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Don July 17, 2011 for Model Number FDE336RES2 This is a follow-on from you last response. Is it ok to run the dryer without that piece of fiber substance stapled to the top of the heater housing assembly?
1 Answer Hi Don. Unfortunately, the manufacture does not permit use of the dryer without this part. Osha and U. L. recomendations disallow this practice for fire hazards. Thank You. Read More...
Caroline. July 16, 2011 for Model Number Agqb6400fs1 I have just found this in my frigidaire affinity front loading dryer also! Someone posted same finding as I have ..."I have just replaced the thermal limiter & have not started the dryer yet, because I noticed a piece of scorched eight inch leather type insulation on the top left part of the heater unit housing. I cannot find this eight inch insulation on any parts drawing. What is it for? Or is it something that got inside the dryer and got caught on the housing, heated up & caused the limiter to trip? It looks like it may fit somewhere on the top of the housing"... Its not "felt" it is rubbery and long, I discovered it upon attempting to replace the thermal fuse, which I still need help identifiying. This rubber thing concerns me it looks like it fell from somewhere and its tattered, is this also why I am having to replace fuse? Where is the thermal fuse anyway? How do I get it out?
1 Answer Hi Caroline. No you both have different dryers anyway. A thermal fuse will open the heater if there is a vent restriction, or a direct short with your heating element. We are going to need your exact model and serial(located into the door area).Thank you. Read More...
Don July 15, 2011 for Model Number FD336RES Your answer to my last question was not the right parts at all. This piece I called leather is most likely fiberglass. It looks like it may fit somewhere on the top of the housing because some holes in it seem to match with staples that are on top of the heater housing.
1 Answer Hi Don. Lets try to help you again on your question. I aplogise, you are absolutley correct. On top of the heater housing assembly there is a fiber substance that is stapled onto the top of it . It is used to block/and redirect heat from escaping up into the top of the control panel. Thie assembly is part # 131553900. Thank you once again! Read More...
