This mechanical cycle timer controls the sequence and duration of wash, rinse and spin functions in compatible top-load washing machines, restoring proper cycle advancement and timing. What it does:

  • Advances the washer through timed cycles so selected wash, rinse and spin functions run in the correct order.
  • Routes power to the washer's motor and valves at the right points in the cycle.
  • Commonly replaces timers that cause machines to get stuck on one cycle, fail to advance, or not complete a cycle.
  • Works with the machine's existing control knobs and wiring harness to restore automatic cycle sequencing.
What's included: One washer timer assembly. Install notes:
  • Disconnect power to the washer before beginning any service to avoid electrical shock.
  • Service typically requires access behind the console or control panel; remove panels carefully and keep fasteners organized.
  • Note and photograph wiring connections before removal; reconnect wires to the same terminals.

Scott, With the complaint described it does not sound like the timer would be the issue with the unit. You will want to check in between the tubs to make sure that there is nothing caught between them. If this checks ok then the most likely cause would be that the brake is not completely releasing causing drag on the motor which would require a new transmission for this issue.

Zoltan, The timer is the most likely problem. Power is supplied directly from the timer to the drain pump through the red/white wire. You may want to check the wire to make sure its not loose, pinched, twisted or kinked. But it's most likely a damaged contact inside the timer.
