Hello Randy. The model number will have to be verified on the units I.D. tag since the one listed came up invalid. This will be necessary to look up and specific parts such as the one you requested. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. We will need your model number to help you with this. Please call 1-877-477-7278 or post your model number with a new question on the parts page. Here is a link to help you locate it. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx

Our freezer defrost was not working. We replaced the heater and bracket assembly, the defrost thermostat, thermistor and the main board. For a couple of weeks nothing changed (wasn't defrosting still) but now it defrosts twice a day. I figured it was just "catching up" but it continued for several days. We unplugged and defrosted the refrigerator and freezer. For a couple of days everything was normal but now it is defrosting a couple of times a day again. Is this normal or an indication that something is wrong?

1 Answer

Hello Dustin, The defrost circuit cannot "accidentally" defrost too many times. Most refrigerators will defrost every 8 to 12 hours. This is going to be more than once a day so I would have to say, yes, this is normal.

Hello Mark. Either the unit tried to restart too soon or the compressor is staring to fail and is going to go out soon.

Hello Leonardo, You should check the fan inside the unit and the fan behind the unit. Also check the compressor. If they are running you should remove the rear wall of the freezer compartment and check the frost pattern. If the coils are frozen top to bottom the defrost heater should be checked. The model number from the units' I.D. tag would allow us to include part numbers and a more specific diagnostic procedure. We also need some of the information we suggested you check so we will know which way to go in the troubleshooting process. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Hello Rick. If the board is new, you need to check the wiring on the unit and it could be a bad dispenser board on the unit. J5 is for the custom cool and humidity sensor.

Bonny, It sounds like the issue with the refrigerator is sticking in the defrost cycle. This will be either a sensor WR55X10025 or the main control board WR55X10942C that is causing this issue. You can test the sensor for resistance of 42.2K ohms at 0 degrees, 14.4K ohms at 36 degrees and 5K ohms at 77 degrees. If the sensor does not check ok then replace the sensor. If the sensor checks ok then the control board is faulty and would need replaced.

Michael B for Model Number PSC23SGRBSS

My main control board WR55X10942 seems to have shorted out and suffered extensive burn damage and evn melting on the left hand side. I bought your replacement board, but two of the connectors on the left side of the unit are extensively damaged as well. The top one is a 3 tab connector and attached to prongs labelled both "comp," "defr," and "line" or J8, J9, and J11. Below that a 8-pin connector with 7 pins side by side and 1 offset, and the connection is labelled J7. I am wondering where I can get these plastic connectors or at least what they are called so I can start searching. I guess I will also have to learn how to run the wires through those connectors. Any help I greatly appreciated.

Michael, Unfortunately we do not have any information on the terminals that you will need for the wiring, it would be best to locate a electronics store and see if they could locate these for you or if they have available.

Had to turn the freezer all the way up to get ice cubes that were not wet. It is now about 1-5 degrees. The condenser coils, and compressor feel very hot to the touch, and the condenser fan doesn't seem to come on at all. I ordered a new condenser fan from you, but that one doesn't seem to come on either. Is it supposed to be on much or all of the time? Is it likely that the main circuit board is bad? Thanks for your help! You offer a wonderful service.

1 Answer

Hello Bruce. If the compressor is on, the fan should be on. Make sure the wiring is good and if so, replace the main board on the unit.
