For Ge Refrigerator Main Control Board (Part Number: OEM21564309)

James for Model Number GTS22FBMARWW

I just changed my main control board in my ge GTS22FBMARWW with a new WR55X10942. My serial number begins with TA so I did not cut any wires. I just swapped the boards out. My original board had a burnt resistor and the evaporator fan would not turn on. Well, know the fan turns on, but I have a new problem I didn't have before, my freezer is way to cold, I have it turned down to a minimum at "1" and my fridge at "5". So my freezer is at 10F and my fridge is a 40F. I would like my freezer to be at 32F. but its at a setting of "1" so I can't turn it down anymore, and its consuming a lot of electricity keeping my freezer that cold. What do you guys think???

James, It sounds like your freezer is sitting at 10 degrees and the refrigerator at 40 then it is working properly. The freezer should run at 0 degrees when set on the middle setting of 5 with a plus or minus 5 degrees. If the freezer were at 32 it would not freeze items properly.

Hello Amy, You will need to pull the unit out and unplug it from the power supply. The board WR55X10942C is behind a panel on the back wall of the refrigerator cabinet.

Hello Heath. Try resetting the unit again. If it continues, replace the main board. For the dispenser, your water line in the freezer door may be frozen and need to be thawed out on the unit.

Hello Rob. Remove the line from the bottom of the door and see if water comes out there. If so, the line in the freezer door is frozen and will need to be thawed out.

Babar, Unfortunately the wiring harness is not available as a separate part as it is part of the cabinet of the unit.

Pat, This issue does sound like it would be caused by a bad control board but may also have to do with the thermistors. You will want to check the thermistors in the unit. At 0 degrees the thermistor should read 42.2K ohms, at 37 degrees the reading should be 14.4K ohms and at room temp of 77 degrees the resistance should be 5K ohms. If out of range then replace the thermistors. If the thermistors check ok then it would be the main control.
