Alison February 16, 2024 for Model Number ZISS480DRISS My refrigerator fresh food section is freezing everything to 22 degrees F. (The freezer still is at zero). The repair guy felt that the User interface was faulting, but the part for this is no longer available. So he tried replacing the Damper Assembly behind the Quick chill drawer was replaced, as his boss felt that certainly that was going to be the issue--- it was not. Then they decided to change the Main Control Board (WR55X10560) as well as the Condenser fan motor (WR60X10209), since the fridge was pulled out from built-in cabinet location and since the fan might fail in future, given that fridge is 17 years old. Still, Fresh food section is freezing. Resistance checked for all compartments and they are good. Thermister replaced anyways for Quick chill area, also to no avail. Is there a possibility that the control panel board in Quick chill is the problem rather than the User interface at top of FF area??
1 Answer Alison, if both refrigerator thermistors and the quick chill thermistor tested good, if the main refrigerator damper is staying open and the evaporator fan is continuously running then the failure would most likely be the user interface WR55X10159 rather than the quick chill control based on the information provided. Robert February 07, 2024 for Model Number zics360nmlh Purchased the WR55X10956 board and fixed the issue I changed it for, but the compressor no longer turns on and worked fine prior to the replacement. Is there a reset for the new board (besides turning the power back on? All other functions seem to be working.
1 Answer Robert, There is no reset to the control board other than disconnecting power and then reconnecting it. It is possible that the control board was in a defrost mode and should come back out after a period of time. Check to see if there is power coming off the board to the compressor. If there is not and the fans are running then you may have gotten a defective board. Read More...
Mike November 01, 2023 for Model Number Z1SS480NMBS Replaced WR55X10286 main board with WR55X11130 after the unit stopped cooling. Immediately noticed main display at top of refrigerator not lit while produce / vegetable bin displays were on. Upon pressing any button on the main display it come on for a while. Wondering if there was any jumper or something to make the main display come on when door opens. Also when using a calibrated thermometer it reads -15 in the freezer and 40 degrees in the reefer when the main display reads 1 degree in freezer and 34 degrees in the reefer. Is there some way to calibrate the display? Also it will not allow any temperature in the reefer side below 34 degrees?
1 Answer Mike, There would be no jumper wire that would allow the display to come on when the door is open but you could test to make sure that there is not an issue with the door switch. There is also no calibration of the display board. Read More...
Imagerep January 24, 2023 for Model Number ZISS420DMBS Suddenly freezer dropped to -7F and the fresh food went to 48F. I tested (using diagnostics self test) dampers and doors open/close. Fans also seem to operate OK. Yesterday I replaced 3 temp sensors on fresh food side hoping to resolve. Also cleaned upper compressor/fan screen. Door seals look OK. Problem remains. Is my next option the Control Board?
1 Answer Imagerep, if the temperature sensors matched up to what the display was showing, the first step would be identifying if there were any bags or items blocking up the return vent between the fresh food and freezer sides. If clear, the freezer and evaporator thermistors WR55X10025 would need to be tested. With power supply to the appliance turned off, the thermistors would be tested from the main control WR55X11130 at connection J1. The freezer thermistor would be tested from the wire at pin 5 to the wire at pin 3. The evaporator thermistor would be tested from the wire at pin 5 to the wire at pin 4. At -4°F, the resistance should measure 48.4K Ohms and at -13°F resistance should measure 65K Ohms. If the sensors do not measure somewhere in that range, the thermistor has failed. Read More...
Bill June 21, 2022 for Model Number ZIS420NMC Have cleaned condensing coil, replaced compressor, defrost sensor checked drain pan heater, cleaned drain line tested defrost heater refrigerator has mad ice all thru this but it will work for a few weeks then freezer temperature will go up to 10 degrees and refrigerator will go up to 48 degrees stay that way a few days then start working normally again a few days later temperature goes back up again then randomly returns to temperature set points sensors test ok would this be control board or fan motor also tested door switches
1 Answer Bill, based on the information provided, the most likely cause of failure would be the main control WR55X11130. Read More...
Kris June 14, 2021 for Model Number ZISS420DMAS My GE Monogram fridge is about 18 years old. One morning, it wouldn't turn on for couple of hours and the inside temperature went to 48 degF (compressor was off all this time). Then the compressor turned on and has been working fine. It has happened two days in the last week. It seems to be fine otherwise today. What is your suggestion? Thanks,
1 Answer Kris, if it is just the refrigerator section reaching 48°F, the refrigerator thermistors WR55X10025 would need to be tested for resistance to identify if they are causing this issue or if it is the main control WR55X11130. At 48°F, the thermistors should measure about 10K Ohms. Each thermistor should measure about 14K Ohms at 37°F, 12.7K Ohms at 41°F, 7.8K Ohms at 59°F, 6.2K Ohms at 68°F, and 5K Ohms at 77°F. If the sensors test good and all mechanical parts operate properly, the failure would then be in the main control. Read More...
Vic September 10, 2020 for Model Number ZICS360NMALH I got a new board for the referenced refrigerator (WR55X11130) which replaced the old board (WR55X10286). The new board doesn't have the same mountings and the plug in cables are located in a different of the board. Is there some sort of an adaptor I should have gotten
1 Answer Hello Vic, the control board, (WR55X10286) has been subbed to (WR55X11130) by the manufacturer and is the correct service replacement control board for your model. While it may look and mount different then the original it will function the same. Read More...
Derek August 19, 2017 for Model Number ZISB480DMB 4 weeks ago the water and ice dispenser stopped working no touch controls or lights worked. Over the last 2 weeks the frig and freezer would not hold temperature freezer in the 20s and frig in the 50s but then it would bring the temperature down. Now the temperature is in the 30s and 60s. I had to replace the Motherboard 6 years ago due to the same temperature problem. Does this sound like the motherboard again for both Problems or are they seperate problems?
1 Answer Derek, The Main control board will most likely be the cause for the dispenser to not have lights and the temperature fluctuation of the unit. Read More...
Mike C July 17, 2017 for Model Number zis420N GE 42 Monagram trimmed refrigerator Refrigerator and freezer still work. Front panel where the water and ice dispense is now dark. No power. No lights. When I push for ice there is no sound at all. Took the front panel off. looks like there is a control board and touch pad as a singe unit??? What part do I need to replace? Can send picture to be sure we have the right model. Thanks Mike
1 Answer Mike, You will want to test at the dispenser control board for 12vdc getting to it. If there is power then the issue will be the board. If there is no power then you will want to check to see if there is damaged wires at the door hinge and if there is not then the main control board would be the issue. Read More...
Paul E May 02, 2017 for Model Number GE GFE29HSDS Problem with my GE refrigerator. The interior lights and the control panel stopped working. The fridge is still keeping cold/freezing. The front controls/water dispenser don't work at all. If I unplug the fridge and plug it back in, the display comes on for a couple seconds and shows the freezer temp, but then shows nothing. I've read that this is likely the main controller, but are there other possibilities? There also seems to be a board in the water dispenser area - could it be that?
1 Answer Paul, Based on the control panel not working and the lights not working then this will most likely be caused by a faulty main control board. The part number for the control board would be WR55X46805. Read More...
