Kyle April 17, 2014 for Model Number Gld5800L00cc Our dishes come out clean but will not dry. Especially cups and things on the tops rack.during the dishwasher running I've felt the outside if it and it barely gets warm. So we always have to towel dry our dishes after running them thru the dishwasher. I've tried every setting (heated dry (always), pots & pans, normal, etc) that there is and nothing gets the dishes dry. Do I need a new heating element or what should I do or check? This is my first home and have been here for 2.5 years so I don't have a lot of home maintenance experience. Please help.
1 Answer Kyle, The first thing to do is to check the detergent that you are using to see if it has a rinse aid in it. If not then check your rinse aid reservoir to see if there is any rinse aid in it. If there is not and you are not using a detergent with rinse aid then add rinse aid which should help the drying. Also check to make sure that you are purging the hot water before turning on the dishwasher. Read More...
Craig W. March 02, 2014 for Model Number GLC5604V00WW Dishwasher is not heating water for the heated dry, added heat, sanitize, or steam features. Replaced heating element part # WD05X10010 which I ordered from you (Excellent service and speed!!!). The heating element still does not seem to be functioning. Help!
1 Answer Hello Craig. The first thing to check is to make sure you are getting power to the element. It sounds like the control board part# [WD21X10505] may be the issue. Read More...
Jeff N February 09, 2014 for Model Number zbd0710k10ss The dishwasher is not drying, I have checked continuity in the heating element and it checks out fine no open circuit, but does not get hot. the vent flap motor rotates the flap at the beginning of the dry cycle. The vent blower motor did not come on during the dishwasher cycle.
1 Answer Jeff, You will want to check power at the main control board on the J2 connector from pins 5 to pin 9 for 120 vac. If there is 120 vac then check the wiring down from the control board to the heating element. Do a continuity test of the wires. If there is continuity then the wires are good and if there is no continuity then you would need to repair or replace the wiring. If the wiring test good then the heating element WD05X10010 would be the issue and need to be replaced. If the control board does not have 120 vac on the J2 connector between pins 5 and 9 then the control WD21X10222 is faulty and would need to be replaced. Read More...

Bill January 29, 2014 for Model Number Gld4560n00ss I saw in a post on the heating element that the resistance should be around 21. I am using a multimeter with range from 200, 2K, 20K, 200k, 2M, and 20M. When i use the 200 setting (lowest setting), I get 15 ohms. My dishes aren't dry and the water is cold when I open it up in mid cycle. Does this mean my heating element is bad? I put the tester on continuity and it buzzed and gave me a reading of 9. Hate to spend $60 if I am buying the wrong part. Thanks.
1 Answer Bill, With the resistance showing as 15 when it is supposed to be at 21 ohms would be caused by a bad heating element. Read More...
J P August 22, 2013 for Model Number GLD5708VOOWW Our heating element isn't working. We just took it apart and one end is fried. The wire that connects to it also is fried. So two questions . . . Why would it fry? Where can I get a new wire?
1 Answer Hello JP. It could have gotten wet or had a bad crimp on the wire. You will need to splice it and install a new terminal on the wire. Read More...
Bob July 04, 2013 for Model Number GLD6560L00SS The heating element stayed on after the cycle completed.

Authnel R. February 11, 2013 Dishwasher is leaking from the coil element. How can I stop the leak? Is there a special gasket to put on?
1 Answer Hello Authnel. Check and see if the gasket on the bottom of the element is bad or if the nut is loose on the element. If so, replace the part that is bad on the unit. Read More...
Randy June 15, 2012 for Model Number PDW8200J03WW Our element appears to be rusting open the back, still heating as far as we can tell. Do we need any other parts other than 101 and will it come with installation instructions?
1 Answer Hello Randy. You should just need the element WD05X10010. These are not hard to replace, just disconnect the power and remove the nuts securing the element in the unit. Once the nuts and wires are removed from the element, you can remove the element from the inside of the dishwasher and replace the element. Read More...
Tom September 03, 2011 for Model Number pdw9200j00ww We smelled something like a wire burning during the dry cycle. Now the dishes will not dry. I checked the heating coil resistance, but do know what the reading should be. Any suggestions?
1 Answer Hello Tom. The heating element WD05X10010 should read closed for continuity. It should be around 21 Ohms. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
