Slc She for Model Number PSS26NSTDSS

I have seen it asked before but not a helpful answer. I am replacing this defroster (again) since the one I just replaced it with 5 months ago melted the connectors and I need to replace the 1/8 female spade connectors. My problem is I have search high and low online and in every store around me for high temperature female 1/8 insulated connectors for this application and I can't find them anywhere. It is getting very frustrating. My part will be delivered tomorrow from you guys but I have no way to hook it up. Can you please provide a link or any information on where I can find these connectors or something that you would recommend to connect it with?? Been living out of a cooler for a week so asap would be great! Thank you so much!

Sic she, Since you don't have time to wait for shipping, your best bet would be to try the local "Radio Shack" or electrical supply store. you may even want to try Wal mart or the local hardware automotive parts store. You don't really need "hi temp " terminals, but brass connectors would be nice. the heater is energized for 10 to 15 minutes, as long as the terminals are crimped to the wires properly and tightly you shouldn't have any issues. Just make sure you don't handle the heater by the glass tube or disturb the connectors at the end of the tube, That's where and when most of the problems occur,

Esmer for Model Number GSS25JFMCWW

I have a GE frig model GSS25JFMC WW. The top on both sides is not cooling only the bottom on both sides I opened the freezer back panel and removed the frozen ice on the coils. I am trying to order the heater coil since I checked for continuity and got no results. The frig has one heater but not sure if it's the 9 inch or 12 inch or what part I can use for the fridge model. I also noticed that their is no activity on the evaporator fan I don't know if I need to replace only the fan or the motor as well and if so what part can I use as well ?

1 Answer

Esmer, The part number for the defrost heater on your unit will be WR51X10055. The fan not running would most likely be caused by a faulty fan motor but you can test to see if it is getting 12 vdc to it. If it is then replace the fan motor. If it is not then replace the control board.

Hello Mathew, If we could please ask you to post a new question that includes the model number from your units' I.D. tag, we will be able to look up the parts list to see what part(s) you may need to correct the issue. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Robert, You will want to check the continuity of the defrost thermostat with it on the evaporator and it should read closed. If you take it out it will read open if it gets too warm. You would also want to check continuity of the heater. If the thermostat is reading closed once it gets to 15 degrees then it would be good.

Hello Dawn, This is not a difficult repair. Turn off power to the refrigerator, remove the shelves, and remove the rear wall of the freezer. You will need to use a hair dryer to melt all of the frost from the coils. Do not touch the coils or try to hammer or chisel the frost/ice away as this can destroy the refrigerator. Place a rag or towel over the defrost drain hole at the bottom to prevent anything dropped such as screws from entering the small opening should they be dropped. Remove the two screws from the heater bracket WR51X10055 and disconnect the two wires. Replace the heater assembly in the reverse order. Allow 24 hours for the unit to drop back to normal operating temperature before trusting it with anything with live bacteria such as dairy products.

John, It sounds like the unit may be getting stuck in the defrost and could possibly be a issue with the defrost thermistor which is part number WR55X10025.
