Dave October 01, 2013 for Model Number psc23nswa The freezer and refrigerator start to warm up. I notice the evaporator fan is running slow. I defrost the freezer with a hair dryer. When complete the evaporator fan runs at full speed and the temperatures are normal for a few days until it re-occurs.
1 Answer Hello Dave. It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the evaporator coils in the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Lynn September 10, 2013 for Model Number Mav275aww I am having problems with trying to get my hose into my pipe on my wall with this hose that I have. It is not a straight plastic hose it has a piece on the end of it that sticks out around the hose on the outside that won't go into the pipe on the wall. Is there another adapter that would go on this hose to let it fit into the pipe on the wall. I have the old style of a pipe on the wall that is in a house that is fifty years Los can you help me?
1 Answer Hello Lynn. No, you may need to replace the pipe in the hose so it is up to code and the hose will fit into the pipe. Read More...
Ken August 30, 2013 for Model Number PSC23MSTE SS My GE refrigerator has 6 wires emanating from the plug for the evaporator motor. Four go to the motor, and two white wires attach to what appears to be a thermocouple. All six wires are fastened into a bundle by a cylindrical blue rubber grommet, roughly 1" in length, several inches down from the plug. The picture of the part that comes very close to what I have is for part #AP4438809. However, when I cross check with the Appliance Compatibility Tool, I find that my model is not listed. When I search on the refrigerator model, the web site gives me a choice of two models: AP3875639 and AP3191003. The former has four wires, and the latter has 5 wires. Neither look close to what I have, and neither check out with compatibility tool. What is the correct part ? Can you point me to a picture that I can compare against ?
1 Answer Ken, The evaporator fan motor WR60X10074 has 6 wires and is the correct one for your unit. In the picture you will notice a blue, yellow, red, and white coming off of the motor itself. When you look just beyond the blue grommet you will notice 3 white wires that go to the plug which 2 are for the thermistor/thermocouple. Read More...
Jenna August 21, 2013 My GE side by side refrigerator is making a howling noise in the freezer. I have changed the temperatures on both sides and the noise comes and goes. I have tried to use a hair dryer to reduce ice build up behind walls, nothing is working. How can I fix the problem. The model # is gss25qswc ss and the serial # is AR 427926. Do you have a video on this model so if I buy the parts I can install it myself?

Jerry March 19, 2013 What is the blue wire for on the fan motor connector? My fan's not working, and I have voltage at the connector. I tried connecting a 9 volt battery to the disconnected fan, just to see if it might spin & got nothing. Would that have worked on a good fan?
1 Answer Hello Jerry. Yes, you should be able to test the DC fan motor with a 9 volt battery. If it does not run, replace the fan motor. Read More...
Derek January 20, 2013 for Model Number PSS26MSTASS My fan motor pulled yellow wire out causing it not to work what motor do I need to order. The plug has 6 wires on it and the part number is wr60x10154, but when I look at the pictures it looks like I need 10074 or the reference is taking me to 10307 part number. Thanks
Bd November 01, 2012 for Model Number PSC25SGSC SS The freezer will warm to the point the ice melts in the upper storage bin and water runs down in freezer and freezes in the lower sections. I can feel cold air coming out of the extreme lower portion of the rear freezer near the evaporator. Is the mother board bad or is it the evaporator fan motor? I have already changed all thermistors and the defrost temp sensor on the evaporator.
1 Answer Hello Bd, You want to check to make sure that your evaporator fan motor WR60X10307 is running. There is a possibility that the control board WR55X10942C could be defective but you want to make sure that you are getting power to the evaporator fan motor. If no power to the fan motor then you want to check your board. At the board on connector J2 pin 3 to pin 4, using a multi-meter, you should have 8 to 12.4 VDC. On the motor you should see the same values between white and yellow. The fan motor comes with new evaporator thermistor. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Rjb August 04, 2012 for Model Number ESS25KSTB If fan is bad will this cause both freezer and fridge to warm up, day later cools back down, week later does same thing
1 Answer Hello RJB. Yes, if the fan motor works, then does not, then does, yes it can cause that. Also, if the unit is sticking in the defrost cycle, it will cause that issue. Read More...
