Jon July 29, 2012 for Model Number Whirlpool Super capacity 465 Gas stove/oven We had a power outage the other night and now I notice that the oven wont light. The top burners work as does the broiler. Took off the bottom plate in oven to see if the igniter glows.(it does not) All electronics, clock and timers, work. Did the power outage damage just the igniter?
1 Answer Hello Jon. Test for power coming to the igniter. If there is power there and it does not glow, you will need to order and replace the igniter WB2X9154 in the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Richard June 12, 2012 for Model Number GE Range JGBP28 Great website! To remove the bake igniter, I found it easiest to remove the top panel inside the drawer space. It removes with two 1/4" hex screws in front. It is then easy to access the igniter mounting screws.
1 Answer Hello MM. Remove oven door and storage/broiler drawer. Remove the (2) screws on the oven floor at the back of the oven cavity and remove oven floor/deflector. Remove (2) 1/4" hex head screws from the bracket holding the burner to the back wall of the range (screws located in storage/broiler drawer compartment). Disconnect the (2) igniter wires. Remove the screws securing the igniter WB2X9154. Read More...
George May 28, 2012 for Model Number JGBP33weh5ww Bake in my gas range will not come on, but the broiler & burners work.
1 Answer Hello George, The most common failure here is the ignitor WB2X9154. If you can see it with a flashlight and there is a white spot on it, the ignitor has failed. Otherwise, the best way to check it is to use a clamp on ampmeter. You see, as a safety measure, if the ignitor isn't pulling enough current, it cannot open the gas valve. If the ignitor turns red, it's probably the problem. The ignitor has to turn almost white hot to draw enough current to open the gas valve. If you have a clamp on ampmeter TJCL1100, you can check by hooking it on one wire. It should read from 3.2 to 3.6 amps. If it is pulling the required current, the issue is either the bake burner WB16K22 or the gas valve WB19K10051. Read More...
Jay May 24, 2012 for Model Number JGBP30WEAWW Power surge took out several items in my home including our oven. All of the lights on the control panel are out and the oven will not light. Any idea on the parts that may be needed to repair this issue? Jay
1 Answer Jay, If you have the proper power supply at the outlet, and the cooktop burner igniters work, then you'll need to replace the ERC/Clock WB27K10143 There are no fuses or reset buttons, if the clcock display is blank and you have power, then the clock has failed. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
John May 22, 2012 for Model Number Sears 3627526891 I went to turn on the oven, and it won't light. The broiler also will not light off. Neither ignitor is glowing with No gas smell. Also the clock has not been bright for years(you can see the numbers if you look real close) and the oven just work about 3 days ago. My question is which way should I go with this? Should I replace the gas valve or is there a control unit that could go bad?
1 Answer Hello John. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
