The Pressure Switch Hose is an OEM part for GE washing machines. It connects the pressure switch to the tub, allowing the switch to monitor the water level within the washing machine. This ensures the proper amount of water is used during each cycle for efficient washing and rinsing.

You should replace this pressure switch hose if it becomes cracked, clogged, or otherwise damaged. Common causes of a bad hose include wear and tear from repeated use, buildup of detergent or debris, and damage from improper handling or installation.

Symptoms of a bad pressure switch hose include:

  • Washing machine not filling with water
  • Overfilling or underfilling of the tub
  • Inaccurate water level detection
  • Error codes related to water level issues

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Ge Pressure Switch Hose (Part Number: OEM6139761)

1 Answer

Jerry, it is recommended that the water pressure to the valves are checked to ensure they are within 40 to 100 PSI. This range will allow the water valves to operate properly. However, the water leaking by is an indication that the water inlet valve assembly WH13X23974 will need to be replaced.

Hello Donald, You will need to use a pressure switch hose WH41X365 specifically designed for this purpose since the detergent produces a very strong chemical reaction. Not all materials can withstand this reaction.

Danny, If the pressure hose is removed while there is water in the unit then yes there will be water that will come out of the air dome.

Jack, The air dome may have a little water in it but the key thing is to make sure that that port that the hose connects to is not clogged up. There is really no way to clean the air dome other than pulling the inner tub and try to get in there to try to wipe it out.

I have recently noticed that my washer will continuously fill until it gets to near the very top of the drum. It's at this point the agitator will not work because with the clothes and the water the machine is too heavy and the overflow senor trips. I have traced the issue to the water pressure hose and switch. I installed a new switch and discovered that the water does not travel up the hose. The water fills up the little side tank under the hose but does not come up through the nipple and into the hose. I have checked the hose for leaks by blowing into it. The are no obstructions in either the tank or the switch so I'm not sure why I can't get water to go up the hose.

Andrew, Water does not come up through the hose and only allows air pressure to push through the diaphragm inside the pressure switch.

Judy, This issue would most likely be caused by a weak water valve solenoids and the water valve would need to be replaced.

Russell, No, the air bell is not removable from the outer tub assembly. It is "sonic" / heat welded to the tub. You can disconnect the air tube from the air bell, and use an old fashioned "pipe cleaner" or similar tool to carefully clear any debris or sediment from the opening. Make sure you get a good air tight seal on the air tube and air bell when you reinstall it.

Hello David. If it is dirty, the best way to clean it is with hot water and vinegar. You fill the washer to a small load and add 1 gallon of vinegar and let it wash.

Hi, I had a transmission go out on our GE washer, and with the help of your website, I was able to replace it without too much trouble. Just some corroded parts that were tough to loosen. I also put a new belt on, replaced the tub bearing, split ring, hub nut and replaced a broken dampening strap while I had the thing torn apart. Got it put back together and now it floods no matter what load size setting is used. We have to shut the machine off to stop the inflow of water. It pumps out just fine, but it will not shut off when bringing in water. Any ideas on where to start? The machine was running well prior to the transmission going out, so I wouldn't think the pressure switch went bad "over night. Any common mistakes that could cause the problem? Or did I screw up the reassembly? Any ideas would be helpful. By the way, your web site is awesome. I now have a honey do list on the dryer and fridge as well. Thanks, Kenny

Kenny, You will want to make sure that you reattached the pressure hose or that the pressure hose was not damaged during previous repair. if the pressure hose is disconnected it will not allow the unit to shut off. Make sure that it is attached at the tub and at the pressure switch.
