For Ge Control Board (Part Number: OEM11650317)

Svfair for Model Number JVM1790WK01

Good morning. We have a GE Profile JVM1790WK01 Microwave. About two weeks ago, it stopped working. The Primary Interlock Switch failed the Volt Meter Test. I replaced the Primary Interlock Switch and the Holder Locker. I did notice that the top wire within the connector to the primary switch had a burn mark. But the connector looked ok. The microwave worked for about two weeks. After that, very erratic behavior. Including total shutdown. Not flowing fuses. Typically, you can depress the CLOCK button to restore the display. Opening / closing the door would also cause the unit to fail / start to work. I tested all three switches. All OK. The top is N/O. Middle N/C and the bottom one is N/O. Alignment of the mounting (Holder Locker Part) which I also replaced when I replaced the switch appears good. I tested the switches while they were in the unit (Pulled control panel and the individual switch connectors). Last night I cut off the connector for the primary switch and replaced the connector for the upper connector (White + Red). I used a heavy gauge wire and soldered the wire to the White + Red Wires. For the first time in two weeks, the unit worked fine. All functions worked. Heated water for over 2 minutes, twice. Able to control the fan, light, turntable, etc. About 30 minutes later, the unit "blanked" out. No display, not able to activate Fan or light. Opening / closing the door has some impact. The keypad works erratically. I pulled the plug. I am wondering if the Main Control Board (WB27X10866) is to blame. I appreciate any / all assistance. Thanks Steve

Svfair, Check the thermostats to make sure that they are not bad but if they are good then replace the control board.

Emarks, It would be recommended to check the door switches on the unit to make sure that they are good. Also, check the capacitor, diode, and the magnetron to make sure that they are good.

Mike for Model Number PVM1790DR1WW

GE Microwave Mod# PVM1790DR1WW will pause randomly, mostly when I try to start heating something, but sometimes it pauses out of nowhere. The turntable stops whenever it pauses. Sometimes the turntable stops but microwave continues but it does not say pause on the screen. Looking to see if this might be the turntable motor or possibly the control board going bad? Hitting the cancel does not stop the microwave when paused but opening the door does. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mike, with an intermittent failure, the issue would most likely be in the main control WB27X10866. The touchpad WB07X11342 ribbon can be tested for continuity from the ribbon position 5 to position 10. If there is only continuity when the start/pause button is pressed, the touchpad is good.

Jim for Model Number GE PVM9179sf1ss

My GE convection over the range microwave keeps blowing the main fuse. If I put in a new fuse, the light work (both inside and out), along with the vent motor (all speeds), the control panel buttons, clock and all beeping noises. The problem occurs when I press start: the microwave starts for a have a second, makes a buzzing noise, and then everything goes dark (requiring me to replace the main fuse again. I tried to check all three door lock switches and the thermo fuses. From what I read on the internet it could be the main control board. Is there anyway to verify that this is the problem? Would hate to spend $150+ for the board and have the microwave still not work. Many thanks in advance for the helping hand.... Jim

Jim, It sounds as if you have a shorted diode or magnetron. I would recommend isolating the high voltage by disconnecting a wire to the primary side of the high voltage transformer (tape it good before applying power to the unit) then see if the unit runs without blowing the fuse, if so then it is likely that either the diode, capacitor, or magnetron is shorted. If it blows the fuse then it is more likely to be a control issue.

Mary Singleton for Model Number JVM1790WK01

I ordered and received a replacement GE Microwave Main Control Board. Order # 629 0593 I was told it is quite easy to replace. There were no instructions in the shipping carton as to how to remove the current control board and replace it with the new board that was shipped to me. I could not find instructions on line for replacing my old board with the new board. Is there an instruction video online or printed instructions you could e-mail to me? Help! Thanks, Mary Singleton

Mary, This will be an easy repair. You would need to remove the screws at the top of the unit that is holding the air grill at the top in place. Once these are removed you slide the air grill to one side and then remove it. Once the air grill is removed you will then remove a single screw that holds the control panel in place. Lift up on the control panel and remove the part. The control board will be attached to the control panel with screws. Mark the wires to where they go. Reinstall in reverse.
