Sandra Y. July 19, 2020 for Model Number JGBS20WEA1WW My gas igniter only glows but doesn’t light. At times, by chances, it ignites. Is this a better replacement?
1 Answer Sandra, You will want to test at the oven safety valve for a voltage of between 3.2 and 3.6 Vac. If there is proper voltage then the oven safety valve will be faulty and need to be replaced. If there is not the proper voltage then the igniter will need to be replaced. Read More...
Compton July 07, 2020 Hello I did not get the model number but the gas range is marked HOTPOINT. There are 4 top burners and the oven. Would the GE igniter work with this stove? They look alike from the images on your website.
1 Answer Hello Compton, appliance parts are model specific ,we would need the model number to answer your question. Read More...
George July 01, 2020 for Model Number Jgb918sek4ss Open igniter part 202-0569 what Should the resistance be through the igniter element?
1 Answer George, unfortunately, the manufacturer does not list the exact resistance tolerance of the igniter WB13K21. However, the best way to identify if the igniter has failed would be to access the connector from the back panel and test for 120VAC from wire to wire while the cycle is turned on. If the igniter is receiving 120VAC but is not glowing, then it has failed. If it is glowing, the voltage going to the safety valve will need to be tested. If the igniter is working properly, it will send 3.2 to 3.6VAC to the safety valve within 60 seconds. If it does not, the igniter is weak and would need to be replaced. If it does, the safety valve is stuck closed and would need to be replaced. If there was not 120VAC when testing the igniter wires, the wires would need to be tested one at a time to ground to identify where voltage is being lost. Read More...
Scott B January 10, 2020 for Model Number JGB640SEF1SS My gas oven is not lighting. The parts diagram shows both an oven igniter (#218 on the diagram) and an oven glowbar (#217 on the diagram). How do I determine which one I need? They both appear to serve the same purpose.
Rob November 03, 2019 Does the 3.3/3.6 AMPS at the very bottom of the label on the gas safety valve (part AP4513972) mean the amp draw range for the igniter should be between 3.3-3.6 amps? Does the igniter have to be changed if it is .1 or .2 amps below 3.3? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Rob, glow bar ignitors on a 120v circuit should draw 3.3-3.6 amps (3.6 amps when new) in use to be able to open the gas safety valve coil. If the amp draw is low (ignitor is worn out/weak) meaning its draw is under 3.3 amps the gas valve may not open. This is due to the design, that is, if the ignitor is not glowing hot enough to to ignite the gas flow in the burner tube the gas valve will not open. Read More...
Chet August 07, 2019 for Model Number PGB908SEM3SS I just ordered from you guys the oven igniter GE WB13k21 and upon installing I notice temp thermostat beep when set temp is achieved, the oven continue to get hot but the glow and burner turns off and then afterward re-ignites and burner flames and this process continues. Is this normal when temp is achieved, things shut down and on and on until goods are taken out of stove? thanks in advance.
1 Answer Chet, this is a normal operation and is how the oven regulates the temperature. The burner has to cycle on and off as needed or it will continue to heat and get too hot. Read More...
C. J. July 04, 2019 for Model Number PGB908DEM1BB Hello I have had this stove for about 8 years every year or two the igniter goes out in the oven and i replace it it glows but will not heat up over 100 the sometimes it does but does not keep the heat i change the igniter and it works fine today i had the same problem but i turned on the broiler and noticed the igniter up there and i never use the broiler so i took that igniter and put it at the bottom for the oven they looked the same the top was work very hot with the broiler. Are the igniters the same they look the same and went on perfectly I did not put the old one back on the top for the broiler because it was bad. But the oven still did not work it still does not get hot and slowly gets 101 102 115 for temperature. Are they the same igniter ? And do i have to put the one up top for thebroiler back is there a safety thing going on it still does not get hot it glows Thanks
1 Answer C.J., Yes, the two ignitors are the same on this range, and It sounds like you have an issue with your oven valve or the oven sensor. Read More...
Becky April 20, 2019 for Model Number RGB745WEH3WW My oven heats up to the desired temperature but then does not reignite when the temperature cools down. It does not keep an even temperature when cooking.
1 Answer Becky, You will need to check the resistance of the temp sensor WB21X5301 and good reading is 1090 ohms at room temp. Read More...
Eli March 28, 2019 for Model Number JGB281DER2WW I just replaced the oven igniter that's model# WB13K21 and when I turn on the oven it heats great right away. But I get some heavy smell ... like burning rubber or something like that.
1 Answer Eli, while a new ignitor can produce an odor the first time or two that it operates, you should not get an odor like that of burning rubber. You may want to check the wiring to ensure that there is not a wire that is heating up to the point of burning the insulation. Read More...
Rob February 12, 2019 for Model Number GE - model JGBS22BEH4WH Hi, I noticed a strong gas smell after turning on my oven. I'm not sure how much time passed between turning it on, and smelling the gas, but I was expecting the oven to be lit and warm. After smelling gas, I opened the door, and saw the glow from the igniter below. I have since used the oven about four times, and it has lit up without any gas smell. I even left the door open when I turned it on, and still couldn't smell any gas. Was this some kind of gas shut-off failure, or an igniter problem? Considering how strong the smell was, I wouldn't have thought the gas would come on if the igniter wasn't getting hot enough to light it.
1 Answer Rob, First, I would access the burner and closely look and see if there are any large holes or burned marks on the burner, if so replace the burner. Secondly, you may have a weak igniter. You can check the safety valve by turning on the bake element, check for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the safety valve from the bake contact (Yellow) to the neutral contact {white}, if the proper voltage is there, replace the safety valve, if not replace the oven igniter.
