Questions & Answers

For Ge Refrigerator Damper Assembly (Part Number: OEM11326794)

Steve, there is a fan motor in the damper assembly WR49X10091 that could be causing this issue. When a grinding noise occurs with a fan, it is usually due to an obstruction. The damper will need to be inspected for any frost. The freezer fan motor would need to be inspected as well to ensure that it is not blocked up by ice. If it is blocked up by ice, the defrost thermostat WR50X10068 will need to be tested for continuity (it should have continuity). The defrost heater WR51X10055 would also need to be tested for resistance and it should read 21O. If these check good, then the freezer, refrigerator, and evaporator thermistors WR55X10025 would need to be tested for resistance to ensure they are operating properly. If everything tested good and there is a defrost issue, then the main control WR55X10942C would be the likely failure.

Lucinda, With the unit temps running at 77 degrees check to see if the compressor is running. If it is not and there is a clicking noise coming from the compressor then this would be a faulty start device on the compressor.

Sandro, You need to check the resistance of the temp sensor at the main control. At 37 degrees you should read 14k ohms. The connector at the board would be J1-2 to J1-5

Steven for Model Number PSS25MGMA WW

Dear Adviser, My fridge has two issues: 1. It used to produce clicking noise intermittently. Really hard to judge which section is the source. It seems either the damper area or in the freezer area. 2. Now the clicking noise is gone, but it seems not stopping running, even after I tried to adjusted the temperature to 1 for both section. Although it seems currently temperature is normal for both sections. What could be the issue, damper or defrost thermostat? Thanks, Steven

1 Answer

Steven, there are several things that will cause a clicking noise, the damper trying to adjust, an evaporator fan blade hitting pieces of ice in the freezer section. Keep an eye on the temperatures in both sections, if one side gets off too much, you may need to replace the damper assembly.

Olston G. for Model Number MODEL # PSS26MSRA SS SERIAL # FG409433

My GE refrigerator MODEL # PSS26MSRA SS SERIAL # FG409433 is over freezing in the food section side. Gets too cold on the refrigerator side. It was suggested it might be the damper assembly. Can you tell me how to check/verify that my damper is working or not working? It was also suggested that it might be the temperature sensors, is this possible or is it more likely the damper assembly? if its more likely the damper, how do I check/verify the damper is bad? or how do I check/verify that the sensors are bad?

1 Answer

Olston, You will want to remove the damper assembly WR49X10091 and make sure that the door is not broken off the damper. This will be the most likely cause for this issue. You can test the sensor at the main board for a resistance of 5K ohms of resistance at room temp.

Susie for Model Number GSS25LGPACC

Hi my ge side by side is freezing up in the middle shelves and I have to put everything on top shelf or door and water coming in from water line is freezing before dripped into ice maker, I can see small pieces of ice in tube that brings water for icemaker.. ice maker is working but the water freezes up before it gets there and I checked the damper compartment took a picture from the freezer side and the flap inside there appears to stay open could it be frozen .. so two problems here water freezing up and that little tube and the back of the freezer before it drops into the ice maker and middle shelves or freezing my Foods and liquids and the middle compartments and I did turn down fridge temperature to 5 still freezing some foods and staying at temperature between 35 and 40 and freezer I've lowered it to six or seven and it stays at 0 degree. HELP PLEASE.. THANK YOU

1 Answer

Susie, The water freezing in the fill tube would be caused by a faulty water valve as it would be seeping water allowing water to drip in and flash freeze. This will most likely issue with the freezing in the refrigerator then this will be a faulty damper assembly WR49X10091.
