The Drain Pump and Motor is an original LG (OEM) replacement part for LG made washing machines that is responsible for removing water from the washer at the end of the wash cycle. The pump forces water out through the drain hose so that clothing comes out free of excess water, making the drying process faster.

Symptoms of a failing Drain Pump Motor include:

  • Water not draining out of the washing machine
  • Noisy or unusual sounds coming from the pump area during the drain cycle
  • The washing machine stopping mid-cycle

Causes of a bad Drain Pump Motor can range from obstructions in the pump or hose, which can strain or damage the motor, to wear and tear from regular use leading to motor failure. Electrical issues can also affect the motor's performance, preventing it from operating correctly.

This OEM LG part can also be used on Kenmore/Sears appliances.

Sokol, The only way to put the unit into a drain without running the rinse and spin or a full cycle would be to put the unit into the diagnostic mode. Inside the unit there is a tech sheet that you can use to put the unit into diagnostics.

Gary, That's a decision you'll need to make. In most cases you'd want to check the resistance of the EAU61383518 circulation pump motor. It should have a resistance reading of 15 to 30 ohms. If the resistance is in range, you wouldn't need to replace the recirculation pump, unless you choose to.

Michelle C for Model Number WM2487HRM

I just wrote you 2 days ago about my washer not turning on. I ordered the PC board and the hot and cold valves. My husband replaced them and the machine came to life. I have run about 3 or 4 loads yesterday as well as 2 today. I went in to check on load and it was at a standpoint stopped. I started it over to see what would happen next. I selected a normal cycle that stops at 33 min. On rinse cycle.. The water fill , attempts and I do believe drains but does not continue on to spin... No code appearing so not sure what's going on... Do you have any advice on what to do next... Look forward to hearing from you soon...

Michelle, You will want to access the tech sheet which will be located inside the cabinet of the unit and put the unit into a diagnostic cycle. While in diagnostic there will be instructions on the tech sheet that will tell you how to check for error codes. See if there are any error codes because not all will show during normal use. The tech sheet will also tell you what to check for each error.
