The Rotor Assembly is an OEM part for LG washing machines. This component is critical for the proper functioning of the washer's motor, helping to rotate the drum during the wash and spin cycles. It works in conjunction with the stator to generate the necessary magnetic fields for drum rotation.

Causes of a bad rotor assembly can include excessive wear over time, exposure to heavy loads, or physical damage due to mishandling. A malfunctioning rotor assembly can hinder the washer’s ability to spin and agitate effectively.

Symptoms of a bad rotor assembly include:

  • The drum not spinning or agitating properly
  • Unusual noises such as grinding or clunking during operation
  • Error codes related to motor issues displayed on the control panel
  • The washer not completing wash cycles correctly

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Lg Rotor Assembly (Part Number: OEM15601680)

1 Answer

Hello Bud. No, there is no need for lubrication on them, but you can use a very light coating to help the part slide onto the splines if needed.

Rodney, The rotor assembly is not difficult to replace. You will want to pull the unit out and unplug from power. Remove the cover that is on the back of the unit. You will then remove the bolt holding the rotor in place. When you get the bolt removed you will want to get ahold of the rotor with both hands and pull off. Install the new rotor and reassemble.

Tom In Indy for Model Number Front loader washer

My washer grinds during spin cycle. I pulled rotor and see that the rotor is stripped. Do I replace rotor only or can I also replace the piece attached to the machine that is inserted into the center of the rotor that has the ridges that fit with grooves inside center of rotor? I am not sure if the piece inserted into center of rotor is worn or not by looking at it. Does this part usually wear out with stripped rotor? If so, what is this part called and is it difficult to replace?

1 Answer

Tom, As long as the splines on the shaft are not damaged then you would need to just replace the rotor assembly. The shaft is actually the spider assembly which supports the inner tub.

Cameron, The rotor assembly for your unit is part number AHL72914402. The reason that it does not come up in the compatibility chart is because the 01 is not listed in the parts diagram so you would just use the model without that.

Tory for Model Number wm2301hr

Good Morning , My washer quit spinning last night , today I removed the rear panel and discovered that the spline one on the rotor are partially stripped and the bolt that mounts the rotor was lying in the bottom of my Machine. I was able to bolt the rotor back on but I am concerned about the spline failing. Looking at the rotor assembly it appears that the part I really need is the plastic spline portion that simply bolts onto the Rotor assembly with three small bolts/screws. is there any way I could just purchase the Plastic potion only? Thanks, Tory

1 Answer

Tory, Unfortunately you cannot get just the plastic piece inside the rotor. You would have to purchase the rotor assembly as a whole and is part number 4413ER1003A.

Hello Jimmy. See if the tub feels loose and the bearings feel bad. If not, just replace the rotor on the unit.

Winfield, To dislodge the inner tub from the outer tub you will need to rest the outer tub on something which will have the inner tub lifted about 1 to 2 inches above the ground and then using a piece of wood and hammer tap it out. You may need to put some penetrating oil on it to free it up.
